Happy Birthday to #MelindaFrenchGates! Lessons we can all learn from her lead:
👁Focus: find a mission you care about and do all that you can to positively impact it every day.
💪Autonomy: take control of your time, attention, and decisions so that you can focus!
🤝Earned Trust: build a network of people from all walks of life that have one thing in common--reliability. They earn your trust in how they live their lives every day.
🙌Empower Women: work with intention to meaningfully change the systems and norms that hold women back. Lift them up publicly with big opportunities and resources.
Just imagine what would be possible if more leaders led like Melinda! 🌏

Such a lovely surprise from some dear friends in advance of my birthday tomorrow 🥹 Thank you for taking the time to help me celebrate—this year is already off to a great start!
🚀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴!
During a discovery call, this topic was brought up—especially if you’re the type of person spinning multiple plates, and juggling multiple responsibilities.
Unfortunately, those middle-of-the-night “I should really write that down” moments happen 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵. 🌙✍️
And it’s happening more: we are constantly bombarded with 𝗧𝗶𝗸𝗧𝗼𝗸𝘀 featuring business book recommendations, 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 articles to read, and 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘀 to catch up on.
At Stow, I wanted to provide a super simple way to capture those tasks and add them to your to-dos. ✅
We’re currently testing the MVP with a select cohort and are thrilled to have some great feedback coming in already (in less than 24 hours)! 🎉
You can still sign up for early beta access on our website, which should be launching in early 2025. 👀
This is a great way to end of the year.
As we wrap up another busy year of teaching, it’s easy to feel like the only priority is to cross the finish line. But taking some time to do a proper inventory of your Coding and Robotics resources can make a world of difference when the new year begins.
Think about it—are your robots in good shape? Do you have enough coding kits, batteries, or parts to hit the ground running next year? Are there licenses or tools that need updating?
A year-end inventory isn’t just about staying organised; it’s about setting yourself and your learners up for success.
It helps you:
Avoid scrambling for missing resources in January.
Spot what needs fixing, replacing, or upgrading.
Plan lessons with confidence, knowing you’ve got everything you need.
By getting everything in order now, you’ll thank yourself later when the new term begins, and you’re ready to dive straight into teaching.
Have you done your inventory yet like Kerry-Ann van der Merwe ?
What’s your go-to strategy for staying on top of everything? Share tips to make 2025 our most organised year yet!

Ah, the classic Caps Lock conundrum! 😅
This is a gentle reminder of how even the simplest security measures can trip us up.
As a cybersecurity professional, I always emphasize the importance of user awareness and training.
Sometimes, it is the little things that make a big difference in keeping our systems secure.
Stay vigilant, everyone! 🔐 🛡️ 💯

We have all encountered this scenario previously. Offering pragmatic resolutions to clients can aid sales teams in elevating customer contentment and enhancing lead conversion rates. In the grand scheme of things, this approach plays a pivotal role in circumventing delivery delays and guaranteeing a seamless project lifecycle.

Sometimes, letting the engineering team speak to the real problems can motivate the client towards real solutions.
This whole notion of sales teams and engineering teams not being on the same page is a problem that I continually have to solve for companies, when brought in to handle "system issues".
Sales teams provide feedback for engineers on the customer experience, and defines the fiscal opportunity/risk.
Engineering teams provide insights to sales on design decisions, scheduling, known solutions, and should be the metric for a businesses productivity levels.
It's very common for sales and engineering teams to not be on the same page, and the worst part of it is the number of companies who are okay keeping these skeletons in the closet - because who wants to take responsibility for the problem when it's you?

The Power of Being True to Yourself
In a world bustling with noise and expectations, the quest for authenticity has become not just a desire, but a necessity. Every day, we navigate a labyrinth of societal pressures, striving to meet the diverse expectations of friends, family, and colleagues. Yet, amidst this chaos, there lies a profound truth: the most compelling way to connect with others and to truly thrive is by embracing our authentic selves.
Let’s face it: the façade of perfection is exhausting. We often find ourselves putting on a show, meticulously crafting our images to satisfy the whims of those around us. But at what cost? The energy we expend on maintaining this charade can lead to a profound sense of fatigue, leaving us feeling empty and disconnected. Life is too short to be lived in the shadows of pretense. Instead of striving to meet every expectation, why not focus on being genuine?
When we allow ourselves to be vulnerable, we create a space where others can do the same. Vulnerability is not a weakness; it is a powerful catalyst for connection. By sharing our insecurities and imperfections, we invite others to step into their own truths. Each encounter becomes an opportunity for growth, as we mirror back the qualities we see in one another, nurturing a community built on understanding and acceptance.
Authenticity also teaches us to embrace our unique strengths and weaknesses. We are all beautifully complex individuals, woven together in a tapestry of experiences. When we acknowledge and accept our differences, we open ourselves to richer, more meaningful connections. We attract those who resonate with our true selves, forming bonds that are grounded in respect and genuine appreciation.
Life can be likened to a dance—a dynamic interplay of movement and rhythm. In this dance, authenticity is our most precious currency. It allows us to forge connections that resonate deeply, creating a harmonious flow that enriches our experiences. With authenticity as our guide, we learn to navigate the complexities of relationships with grace and confidence.
So how do we begin this journey toward authenticity? It starts with self-reflection. Take time to explore your innermost thoughts and feelings. What are your core values? What brings you joy? By understanding ourselves better, we can align our actions with our true identities.
Next, let go of the fear of judgment. or appreciate your authenticity, and that’s perfectly okay. After all, the right people will be drawn to you not for the mask you wear, but for the real you that shines through.

Heh. It's hard not to appreciate this level of petty.
Especially seeing as how anyone reading this knows exactly how that would play out if they had spoken up and solved the issue, saving the company those millions.
They'd get a $25 gift card to some local coffee shop (would be Timmy's up here) and a hearty 'Good job!"
And it would end there.
Yep, that $25 gift card would sure help me put some more food in my fridge, or help me pay ALL of my utility bills instead of playing the monthly "Who Gets Paid This Month" game, or keep my aged vehicle safely on the road, or to cover that shiny new rent hike or mortgage increase...
Meanwhile, I just saved the company $18M, so now I get to sit back and enjoy an announcement in the next quarterly internal newsletter informing us all that due to "cost savings initiatives" and "stellar leadership last quarter", the execs will be giving themselves raises AND a $250K bonus. Good job, gang!
Yes, we ALL know exactly how that would play out.
I've been a participant in this game as well. Too many times in fact, but one that sprung to my mind was when I spotted an inconsistency in a thing and reported it, with my findings, to my supervisor only to be told, "Yeah this isn't what you think it is. Nothing to see here."
Only to have it all blow up just a week or so later, and an all-hands-on-deck situation happened...as I suspected it would...and I was the FIRST person to point out that I already covered this more than a week ago (you know - BEFORE it was a full blown issue) and here's all my findings again, you know in case you misplaced the copy I provided to you previously...and I've nothing more to say about it.
The way I see it - my level of interest in your company and how I can save it money, is equal to the amount of interest you show me in paying me suitably for those value-adds I can provide.
