Just wanted to share some thoughts on the most difficult part of every project - the last mile, when all of your schedule seem to go up in smoke. Most companies simply shrug their shoulders and say "That's the cost of doing business - shit happens." In truth though, a lot of the stress at the end of the project can be avoided through a few simple steps: - Spend more time at the beginning of your project scoping and planning everything out in exquisite detail. Trust me - measure twice, cut once, and you'll save oodles of time/$$$ - Create a product schedule at the beginning of every project and live by it - this becomes your project's bible. Have set weekly deliverables, and adjust the schedule accordingly if things don't go according to plan - Listen to your team. Be the sort of manager that encourages team members to share all news, both good and bad, directly with them. The more informed you are, the easier your job will be.
