After taking some time to digest all the inspiring sessions and conversations at this year’s NEXT Conference, here are my key takeaways: - Museum vs. Warehouse: In a world brimming with opportunities and innovations, focus is our compass. We must curate our "museum" with the most precious items, lest we end up with a cluttered warehouse. The art of saying "no" is key to staying on course. - The Global South: There's immense potential in the Global South, waiting to be unlocked through inclusive collaboration. By embracing diverse talent and democratizing opportunities, we tap into a world of possibilities often overlooked by a "white west" mindset. - Renewable Energy: To fuel further innovation and growth, we must make non-fossil energy sources accessible worldwide. This global shift is not just an environmental necessity but an economic catalyst. - Positivity Over Privilege: "Pessimism is a privilege" – a stark reminder that while some complain from a place of comfort, others face real struggles with resilience. Let's tackle challenges with positivity and action, not complaints. - GenAI's Creative Spark: Excited about the potential of Generative AI to harness collective thinking and creativity. Transforming simple graphics into meaningful content can break barriers and unlock new ideas. 🌍 Reflecting on Tekom – The Heart of Technical Communication! ✈️ Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending Tekom, the largest event for technical communication, in Germany. 🇩🇪 As always, it felt like coming home – walking through the halls, reconnecting with friends, partners, and customers at every corner. 🫶 Highlights from my visit: ✨ Engaging conversations with both new and existing customers. 🤖 Fruitful discussions on AI integration in the translation business – the future is bright! 💡 A renewed sense of inspiration and positivity about the direction of our industry. That said, I couldn’t help but notice this year’s Tekom was smaller than ever. 🧐 If I may offer constructive feedback to the organizers: ❗ More interaction with visitors: Live sessions between booths could make the experience more dynamic and engaging. ❗ Enhanced networking spaces: It was challenging to find a free spot to sit and talk without wandering through the building. Tekom has always been an unparalleled platform for learning and connecting, but adapting the format to meet today’s expectations could help it grow stronger in the years to come. 🌟 A big thank you to everyone who made this event so meaningful – here’s to more collaborations and shared successes! 🙌 #tcworld2024 #Networking #TranslationBusiness
