After a complex site assembly process and extensive consultations with Camden Council, we leveraged high-quality architectural design principles and aligned with the London Plan's encouragement of tall buildings near transportation nodes. This approach enabled us to successfully obtain planning consent for a landmark 10-storey mixed-use tower adjacent to Finchley Road and Frognal Overground Station. Constructing within such close proximity to a platform presented challenges, and our pre-planning efforts included extensive negotiations with TFL and the establishment of a Basic Asset Protection Agreement (BAPA). This strategic agreement ensured the feasibility of our project and paved the way for turning our vision into reality. #PropertyDevelopment #Planning #PlanningPermission #Property #RealEstateInvesting #PropertyInvestment #ResidentialDevelopment #CommercialDevelopment #MixedUseDevelopment Amin Taha, Philip Acoustics Ltd, Sweco, Webb Yates Engineers, Damian Ford, TLG Todd Longstaffe-Gowan, Alan Hughes

DASNY is always looking to stay on the cutting edge for its clients. This week, President Robert Rodriguez was able to see how modular construction is transforming the service potential at Odyssey House, a NYS OASAS provider agency. In 2010 DASNY began exploring the utilization of modular construction to serve agencies and organizations across New York and has completed multiple projects in that time. Now, in New York City, DASNY is managing the expansion of the George Rosenfeld Center for Recovery. This three-story, 22,500 sq. ft., expansion consists of 71 modular units. Beginning in December 2023, the project will be completed in the Summer of 2025, saving 12 months over traditional construction.

How is the industry improving building standards for the future? This month marks the 7th anniversary of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, which caused dozens of lives to be needlessly lost. The hospitality sector development in central Ohio is so inspiring! I see some fascinating implications from work in Franklinton and have some thoughts! 🍽️ Restaurant Expansion Opportunities: With the influx of new residents and businesses, there's potential for savvy restaurateurs to establish unique concepts in Franklinton. The Walnut Street small business corridor, in particular, could be prime real estate for new eateries. 🏘️ Workforce Housing Impact: The focus on workforce housing in projects like Westrich could help address one of our industry's biggest challenges - employee retention. More affordable housing near urban centers can make it easier for restaurant staff to live close to work. 🏛️ Historic Redevelopment Potential: The Spaghetti Warehouse site discussion reminds me of how successful some restaurants have been in repurposing historic buildings. There might be opportunities for creative operators to preserve Franklinton's character while opening exciting new venues. 🌈 Diversification of Clientele: As Franklinton attracts a mix of income levels, restaurants will need to cater to diverse tastes and price points. This could lead to interesting hybrid concepts that appeal to both long-time residents and newcomers. 🎉 Event and Catering Growth: New residential developments and business corridors often lead to increased demand for event spaces and catering services. Local restaurants should be ready to capitalize on this. 🍺 Brewery and Distillery Synergies: With established players like Land-Grant Brewing in the area, there's potential for more craft beverage producers to cluster in Franklinton, creating a destination for food and drink enthusiasts. 🎓 Training Partnerships: As new businesses move in, there may be opportunities for restaurants to partner with workforce development programs or local schools to create job training initiatives. From my perspective, Franklinton's development isn't just about real estate - it's about the evolution of Columbus's culinary scene and the creation of new opportunities for our industry. Restaurateurs who stay ahead of these trends could find themselves well-positioned in this rapidly changing neighborhood. Shout out to the Franklinton Board of Trade for their tireless efforts in fostering this growth! Their work in community development and business support is instrumental in making these opportunities a reality. What do you think? Do these insights resonate with what you're seeing in the industry? #FranklintonDevelopment #ColumbusFood #HospitalityTrends #ORHA

Some very useful content covered yesterday by all four presenters addressing relevant fire safety and wider compliance considerations for England & Wales, NI and RoI. After some very interesting discussion from Kyle Adams and James Keenan on potential implications of BS9991 (2024) it was actually issued by BSI yesterday and comes into effect on 30th November 2024. Both presenters will be heavily involved in our internal Technical Network on reviewing this most recent CoP and disseminating advice both internally and to others. If your practice need some advice on the implications of the new guidance, and/or the upcoming Technical Booklet E 2025, you know where to come! #BB7 #FireEngineering
A busy Riddel Hall this afternoon for Fire Safety and Architecture, in partnership with BB7.
