As the parent of a (relatively) young child with special needs, I know just how challenging it can be to think about the longer term when so much of our current focus is on what's most pressing and relevant TODAY. Every day we focus on staying on top of required school supports like managing IEPs/504 plans, finding the right kind of camps/extracurriculars/childcare options that can meet his needs, and of course navigating the never ending process of "meeting him where he's at" when it comes to effective parenting approaches. Like so many things in life, it's a lot to juggle! I appreciate articles like this from CNN and journalist Hannah Frances Johansson because it's a useful reminder about the range of tools available to families like ours when it comes to planning for the long-term financial security of our disabled loved ones. Special Needs Trusts and ABLE Accounts are just a few of the many options to consider, but I've learned firsthand from my work with Banister Advisors® how much EARLY research, planning, and taking action can really pay off in the long run. A great place to start is by asking your current financial advisors and/or estate planning lawyer/legal team about how different options might make sense for your own unique family circumstances-- it's never too late (or early!) to start these conversations. And if you would like to get connected with the types of professionals who can help you explore your options, reach out to us for a free initial conversation and resource sharing. Our team of Navigators would be happy to help point you in the right direction: ☎ INTAKE CALL SCHEDULER https://lnkd.in/g-cpXJah #autism #asd #neurodivergent #disabilityplanning #specialneedstrusts #estateplanning #disabilitycare #financialplanning #lifespannavigation #banisteradvisors
