What will a "great engineer" look like in the next 2-3 years? I've been obsessed with this question for the last few months because 1) The rapid pace of advancement in Gen AI when it comes to coding 2) As I advise founders on the skillsets to assess for as they hire today, I don't know if I'm seeing enough attention spent on understanding how these tools are being leveraged on the ground and then tying that back into interviewing frameworks. I'm grappling with questions like "are take home assessments even good signal anymore?" I won't pretend like I have good answers here, I just wanted to share in hopes that I'm not alone in thinking about these larger questions that could change how I approach my understanding of talent. Also maybe this can act as a push for us to start coming up with frameworks for this new reality we are in. #hiring #techhiring #recruiting #techrecruiting
