Staying in pain or stepping into recovery—it’s hard either way. The best time to seek help is now. We hear it all the time: 🗣️ “I’ll get sober in the New Year.” 🗣️ “The holidays will be too hard. I’ll get help when they’re over.” 🗣️ “Once the kids go back to school, maybe I can look at treatment.” Choosing recovery later doesn’t make it easier. You don’t have to continue to suffer, waiting for a better day. There is no day like today. Don’t wait for the new year. At JA Recovery, we’re here to help you find the right path to recovery for you — one filled with compassion and nonjudgement. Get in touch today and together we can choose your hard. #ChooseRecovery #RecoveryJourney #JustForToday #RecoveryIsPossible #NoBetterDay #JARecovery

⁉ Why Are Children Removed from Their Homes? When #children enter the #foster #care system, it’s usually because of deeply #troubling situations involving abuse and trauma. Neglect is the #1 reason children are removed from their homes, followed closely by parental drug use. These #events lead to a unique set of #emotional, #social, and #academic #challenges for these children, including feelings of grief, guilt, anger, sadness, loneliness, and anxiety, along with low self-esteem and health issues. #Understanding these challenges is the first step toward #meaningful #action. As professionals, advocates, and community members, we have a responsibility to support these children by ensuring they receive the care, resources, and #opportunities they need to #heal and #thrive. Help us reach our goal of raising $10,000 in the month of August: https://lnkd.in/eGxQYYrm Let’s make a difference, together. #FosterCareAwareness #ChildAdvocacy #EndNeglect #SupportOurYouth

Do what you can this holiday season to share what you can, a friendly glance of recognition even, with those in need. Many of us are a lost job or poor health situation away from #homelessness. Homelessness is "a consequence of [a societal/human] impulse to accumulate more than [we] need." Our accumulation of wealth and position is in part born from a quest for security and/or an anxiety and a fear of loss. That fear can be stronger than our capacity for love or empathy. People who are homeless remind us of things we fear and so we may recognize them as a threat rather than a human in need. "The toughest parts of homelessness have been surviving the poverty and the marginalization, discrimination, and hostility from the non-homeless population." Choose kindness. https://lnkd.in/gxPV9rxJ

Mortality affects us all, but we find it a difficult subject to talk about. In this FREE webinar, Joanna Collicutt discusses with Debbie Thrower her recently published six-week course and unpacks some of the crucial questions that death and dying raises. The webinar will combine theological insights and practical wisdom to enable churches to create spaces for people to discuss mortality and what is sometimes known ‘as the last taboo’. If you're a church leader, bereavement counsellor, chaplain in a care home, hospital or hospice, or work in pastoral care, this free 2-hour webinar on 5 June will be extremely beneficial.
