Securing the Future From Protection to Wealth Accumulation Starting with medical coverage for my client entire family, I ensured that every member would have the care they need. As the main breadwinner, my client wanted to make sure her beneficiaries would be protected if anything happened to her, so we addressed gaps in her portfolio and provided a comprehensive safety net. Once we fortified her protection, I shifted my focus to her retirement timeline. Our goal was to ensure that at different stages of her life—60s, 65s, and 70s—there would still be a steady flow of income. This is crucial as medical costs continue to rise, and it's essential to be prepared for those expenses. An exciting part of my journey was planning for her daughter, who is currently in her internship. I helped her secure her first insurance plan and set up a disciplined savings strategy for her future goals. From protection to wealth accumulation for the family, it's all about creating a secure and prosperous future! Have a lovely mid week ahead guys! #midweek #financialconsultant

By 2026, the insurance industry will wave goodbye to 400-500k veterans of the business. The big question: how are we responding? Companies like Lockton are setting the pace, showing us that leadership is about action. Meanwhile, my friends at many carriers aren't just participants; they're pioneers with their apprenticeship and intern programs, proving that advocacy can pave the way for change. This isn't just about filling vacancies. It's about opening doors to diverse, fresh talent eager to make their mark. Our industry does more than policies and claims; we're a pillar of support for communities, a fact often overshadowed. I have the privilege of being part of this awesome industry and a responsibility to pay it forward. Let's showcase the vibrancy, the impact, and yes, the fun of our industry to the next generation. Let's discuss how we can collectively enrich our industry's legacy and ensure its vibrant future. Engage below with your thoughts or actions towards embracing and nurturing new talent in our industry. #TalentDevelopment #TalentAtraction #Insuranceiscool

I began my career doing public relations for McDonalds. 🍟 At a PR agency post university. It was actually brilliant fun and I was good at it. But it wasn’t something I wanted to do forever. I didn’t know what I wanted to do growing up. And my path into insurance wasn’t immediate. But unlike some, I didn’t “just fall into it”. Post PR it took me three stints of work experience to make my mind up. I did 3 x placements over the summer of 2010. Looking back I’m incredibly grateful to so many people at Aon, WTW and CATHEDRAL CAPITAL (1998) LIMITED who gave me that hands on, open door insight that no amount of theoretical knowledge can match. 🚨‼️Did you know that 50% of the London insurance Market are 40+ years old? 26% are 50+ years old and many approaching retirement. We need to invest in our succession. Andrew Potter (17, pictured with me, new to insurance, new to LinkedIn) has been spending this week with us at Aviva on work experience. It’s been a full-on week for him but his sense of humour, enthusiasm and curiosity hasn’t waned once. Let’s hope we’ve persuaded him on insurance as he’d be an asset for any business. (He’s now on the hunt for a degree apprenticeship from next year.). A big thanks to everyone who has spent time with him. 🌟I feel very passionately about our industry. Even now, not a day goes by that I don’t learn something exciting, meet someone fascinating, test my brain solving problems and more generally feel that I’m contributing to something bigger. We just need to get this message out to the younger generations. #talent #insurance #workexperience #schoolleavers #genZ #opportunities #aviva

The kids are alright....but we need to support them! For the past three summers I've had the pleasure of discussing financial literacy and financial futures with Greenwood Project interns. The thoughts of this summer's interns, Anthony Armstead, Arelys Estrada, Adin Farmer, Imani Noel, Kai Washington, and Manny Wiley are insightful and important for all of us to consider. #InvestingInvolvesRisk

I'm thrilled to announce that I have officially joined Zurich Insurance on the Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship! 🎉 I would like to thank the Early Careers team at Zurich Insurance and of course all of the people who have guided and helped me to reach this far, you know who you are. The journey hasn't been easy, as I faced rejections at various stages throughout the degree apprenticeship process however, attending the Motivez application season session and absorbing the invaluable tips and advice from The Black Apprentice Network (BAN) and Outer Circle taught me a vital lesson: resilience is key. 💪 Each rejection I faced was not a setback but a re-direction towards a company that aligns perfectly with my values and skillset. To anyone aspiring to become a degree apprentice but facing rejection, here's my advice: 1. Stay Resilient: Rejections are not the end, but rather stepping stones guiding you towards the right opportunity. 2. Seek Support: Leverage resources like Motivez sessions and mentorship from apprenticeship communities e.g The Black Apprentice Network (BAN), Outer Circle 3. Prioritize Mental Health: The process can be taxing, so make sure to take care of your mental well-being. Stay positive, take breaks, and maintain a balanced lifestyle. I'm excited about this new chapter and the opportunity to contribute to the innovation at Zurich Insurance. Let's continue to push boundaries and create impactful solutions together! 🌟 #CareerJourney #Resilience #DegreeApprenticeship #ZurichInsurance #NewBeginnings

Where is the time going? It's hard to believe tomorrow is Justin Timberlake Day (IYKYK) This year is flying by, and I am genuinely loving every moment of it ❤️ Today has been a whirlwind of meetings, supporting various projects, as well as tackling social value bid questions from across the business. And let's not forget, I'm gearing up for the second live event of my apprenticeship from Wednesday to Friday 🤓 As well as being busy, today marked a milestone…for the first time, I felt like I reached my capacity. 😱 (Don’t tell Dale whatever you do!) But in true Emma Thornton Local Government Social Value and Sustainability Sector Lead style, instead of feeling overwhelmed, I saw it as an opportunity to reflect, reevaluate, and reprioritise my tasks and commitments and, I maintained control of the situation. Although, let’s be realistic, I was probably only one email away from a mini meltdown! (I do love a good overreaction-I’m only human) Moving forward, I have the advice of Dale Wood and Hannah ringing in my ears, and I heed their warning, understanding that the ability to say no is within my power and Dale Wood has my back. At the same time my commitment to smashing every goal in front of me is unwavering and, let’s be honest, I’m not someone who can sit around twiddling my thumbs. Knowing that I have an incredible support system behind me gives me the strength and confidence to achieve great things and the collaboration with my colleagues makes that enjoyable as well as worthwhile. So, here's to another week embracing the hustle and collaborating to achieve greatness together! #WorkHard #Reflection #SupportSystem
