📣 FACTS📣 Did you know that the call for Leadership Team members for the North American Strategic Energy Management Collaborative is open? We are looking for FIVE new faces to join our team this year! Time Commitment: 3-10 hours a month depending on role Needs: Folks who love to get stuff done! Nonprofit experience! More folks from the Northeast, Canada, the Midwest, the South! 🔬 The Experience 🔬 I have a testimonial here from *ME*. I've been on the Leadership Team of the NASEMC for the last three years. Every two weeks I get together with a group of industry leaders in the SEM space and we work on planning and hosting events, providing resources to the industry, allocating funding for research, creating long-lasting structures for SEMC chapters, and more! When I started on the LT, I'll admit I was pretty overwhelmed. I was in a room suddenly with names I'd known my whole career and folks with way more experience than me. I don't think I said a word for eight months. Now I've been chair for a year. I think that taking the leap and joining this LT, even before I felt really ready, was one of the best choices I've ever made in developing my leadership skills. Plus, the NASEMC is a mission-driven organization. If you're hungry for a chance to transform and grow how we think about Strategic Energy Management, want to have a real impact, and want to grow your leadership skills, then this might be for you. 🔓 Sounds Great! How do I sign up?! 🔓 If your company is a member organization and you want to come work with me or the rest of our amazing leadership team, let me know and I'll send you the link to nominate yourself, or help you find someone else to nominate you (I know it's super awkward to nominate yourself). Feel free to reach out to any of our other current LT members to find out what it's like or ask for a nomination, too! Pamela Birkel, Holly Farah, LEED AP, Clay Hoover, PE, Mike Kelly, Jon Feldman, Michelle Keller, Leslie Wright MBA, PMP, Nick Dalziel, Lura Griffiths, Diana Chou, CAPM

The responsibilities and impact can be great…. So thinking through decisions, consulting with key colleagues, and weighing out possible outcomes is critical. And guess what… you might not always get it right! In fact, I can guarantee you will make mistakes and have to pivot or completely course correct, but that’s how you learn. One thing to consider…. And think of it as a guiding North Star….. When you have to make big decisions… what advice would you give that helped you to assess situations or challenges and reach a conclusion?

Sunday musings…my work and my graduate degree require that I spend a lot of time thinking about success - what it looks like, how it is measured, and how to design course corrections…with this same mindset I have been reflecting on what success means today for the role of president in our complex and ever-changing world. In recent homework, I was struck by the common traps in dealing with complex systems: 1. Inadequate definition of goals. 2. Lack of joined-up systems analysis. 3. The creation of irreversible emphasis. 4. Lack of attention to side-effects. 5. The tendency to over-steer or over-react. 6. The tendency to act in an authoritarian (controlling) way. This is a tall order for any politican to tackle- but I do believe these traps must be considered as we look to address the complex challenges facing our world and country. Successful complex systems design (and implementation) requires transdiciplinary skills and capabilities. What if…the new job description for president required a transdisciplinary mindset and behaviors…to avoid the traps listed above, support unity/cooperation, promote flexibility, deliver local and global relevance - all for human + planet wellbeing?

#LEADNetwork24 #LeadingSustainableChange #DoingNotTrying #lifeatNIQ Day 1 in Budapest at LEAD Network Europe Regina Kuzmina, CPCC key note speaker takeaways. ⬆️ Turn every glass cliff into a dance floor (glass cliff = you break through the ceiling, promoted to a higher position during times of crisis or duress, when the chance of failure is more likely) ⬆️ Build your village ⬆️ Beware of the valley of disappointment. Don't spend your time on imposture syndrome, it just feeds your current job and you are not thinking about your next one. Make time to invest in your next and future roles. Create new networks, acquire new future proofed skills. Get ready.
