A new study makes the bold claim that the wide-ranging education reforms embraced by Denver Public Schools were among the most effective in U.S. history at boosting student learning. Denver’s graduation rate increased at a higher rate than it would have if the reforms hadn’t happened, researchers found. By 2019, 71% did. Without the reforms, the rate would have remained below 60%, the study says. Prosperity Denver Fund is committed to increasing graduation rates by supporting organizations that encourage and promote postsecondary education for Denver students! https://buff.ly/3BvMwYa

The NYU Furman Center's Local Housing Solutions just released a new case study on how Davis, CA developed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to address increasing student demand for rental housing. The MOU included commitments to increase the supply of university-sponsored housing, make new transit investments, and ensure the university contributed to the city’s public resources. Key takeaways: ▶️ Cities near universities can use MOUs to mitigate the impact of large student populations on housing and public services. ▶️ MOUs can improve the “town-gown” relationship. ▶️ MOUs can provide the framework for regularly tracking and reporting progress.
