Scammers rely on catching you off guard. While we all know it, everyone is human and can be caught in a vulnerable moment. You might be up to your eyes in meetings, drowning in paperwork and inadvertently press 1. You might be mid festivities and receive a call saying £800 has gone from your account and press 1 in a panic 😳 Whatever you do... Don't engage. Ever. Hang up. Report it. If it is really your bank, they will contact you again. Sophisticated technology can be used to commit scams, but that’s not always the case. Sometimes, it’s as simple as a sticker on a parking meter. Despite Peter Taylor, ACFS’s background in law enforcement and teaching fraud prevention, he’s still human and, by his own account, failed to pause and “Take Five” before making a suspicious transaction. Remarkably, Peter was able to recover his money from the scammers. We thank Peter Taylor for sharing his experience during International Fraud Awareness Week. First-hand accounts from victims help shed light on how scams happen and how we can prevent them. #riskmanagement #bankingindustry #payments

🚨 Fraud 🕵🏽♀️ Fighting 💪🏾 Friday! 💥 As someone who is aware of the devastating impacts of fraud, I want to share three strategies that can help you support a victimized loved one. 1. Skip the blame game - Instead of pointing fingers, offer understanding and reassurance. Let them know it's not their fault. Fraudsters can be very clever these days! 2. Listen with compassion - Be a listening ear, providing a safe space for them to share their experiences. Sometimes, all they need is someone who can empathize. 3. Help with scam reporting - Assist them in reporting the fraud to the appropriate authorities or organizations. This can help prevent others from falling victim. Let's stand together against fraud and support those who have been affected. 💙 #fraudwatchnetwork #AARPvolunteer
