On Trans Day of Remembrance, you know that Uncloseted Media is quickly becoming an essential, unbiased news source that investigates America's anti-LGBTQ ecosystem and elevates the voices of everyday heroes. After 10 years in mainstream journalism at 60 Minutes and The Wall Street Journal and teaching LGBTQ journalism at NYU, I launched Uncloseted on Sept. 3 – and we’ve been moving at lightning speed ever since.
As of today, Uncloseted is gaining nearly 100 subscribers a day, and since Nov. 5, we’ve heard from our readers all over the U.S. and internationally thanking us for our honest, in-depth reporting during a time of worldwide political uncertainty.
On this Trans Day of Remembrance, we recognize the hardships and violence the trans community has gone through and continues to experience. We honor the trans lives we have lost to murder and other forms of extreme violence. In just over two months, we have extensively investigated the hate that compromises trans rights and safety in the U.S.
We’ve reported on how the far-right leverages medical misinformation and cherry-picks detransitioners to win court cases. We’ve investigated why president-elect Donald Trump spent five times more money on anti-trans ads than on ads focused on the economy, and we’ve elevated the voices of trans kids. In an age of misinformation and opinion that’s presented as fact, one thing is clear: our evidence-based, nonpartisan journalism is more critical now than ever before. As a nonprofit newsroom, your support drives, elevates, and sustains us, and I’m writing today to ask that you make a gift of any amount in addition to your subscription. Whether it’s $5, $500, or more, Uncloseted maximizes contributions to ensure our reporting covers the most pressing issues for the LGBTQ community and its allies, now and for generations to come.
