In the framework of the UNITE campaign we, as cooperators, stands for urgent collective actions for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. The commitments of #cooperatives in fighting gender violence are numerous and important. Many cooperatives, all over the world, offer support to victims of violence and gender discrimination. Thanks to their commitment, women and people who are victims of violence and discrimination can receive assistance, welcome and support, in many kinds of social and local services. All cooperatives are committed to create the conditions for safe workplaces where there is no space for violence and discrimination, both physical and verbal. But violence means also economic violence. The cooperative model often represents a solution for the women entrepreneurships projects when they need to get independence and a new life after experiences of violence and abuse. Cooperatives build a better world and will always be committed to eliminating gender violence. https://lnkd.in/ebGHik47 #16DíasDeActivismo #StopViolencia

Gender-based violence (GBV) is a term often used to describe men’s violence against women and girls, but it encompasses so much more. GBV also includes violence against individuals in the LGBTIQA+ community based on gender identity or norms, as well as violence against men and boys who may not conform to traditional gender roles. The United Nations’ global 16 Days of Activism campaign primarily focuses on men’s violence against women—a widespread issue that impacts communities around the world. But understanding GBV in all its forms allows us to create a world where everyone, regardless of gender or identity, can live free from violence. Together, let’s stand against all forms of gender-based violence and support a safer, more inclusive world for everyone. 💜 #EndGBV #16DaysOfActivism #GenderEquality #SupportSurvivors #StopViolence #InclusiveCommunities

During this16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (a global campaign led annually by UN Women), it is important to acknowledge the gendered nature of child sexual abuse and child maltreatment more broadly. A gender-based lens does not just focus on women and girls as victims of violence; it should also acknowledge that restrictive social norms about gender and sexuality also contribute to violence against boys, men and individuals with diverse gender identity and sexuality, including children and adolescents. The Australian Child Maltreatment Study (#ACMS) found that: 32.0% experienced physical abuse (28.2% of 16-24yo) 28.5% experienced sexual abuse (25.7% of 16-24yo) 30.9% experienced emotional abuse (34.6% of 16-24yo) 8.9% experienced neglect (10.3% of 16-24yo) 39.6% exposure to domestic violence (EDV) (43.8% of 16-24yo) We need to ensure there is a committed focus and investment for preventing child sexual abuse and maltreatment more broadly, and that rights and access to essential services for survivors (including secondary survivors) are provided for. #NoExcuse #16Days #16DaysOfActivism #ProtectKids

Today is day 2 of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence campaign. Let us learn what GBV is and the causes. GBV stands for gender-based violence. It refers to harmful acts directed at an individual based on their gender. GBV is rooted in unequal power dynamics, societal norms, and cultural practices, often disproportionately affecting women and girls, though men and boys can also be victims. Causes of GBV Patriarchal cultural norms. Gender inequality. Lack of legal protections. Economic dependency. Conflict and humanitarian crises. #16DaysOfActivismAgainstGenderBasedViolence hashtag #StopGBV
