Exciting discussions with colleagues from the Office of the #UnitedNations Resident Coordinator in the Philippines Matija Kovac and Eden Lumilan during their visit to the Department of Science and Technology yesterday, 17 May 2024. Led by DOST Assistant Secretary for Development Cooperation Rodolfo J. Breaking news: The European Commission and the Government of Singapore launched exploratory discussions in view of #Singapore’s possible association to #HorizonEurope, the EU's key funding programme for research and innovation with a budget of €95.5 billion. Association to the EU’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation is the closest form of international cooperation in science and technology between the European Union and a non-EU country. It allows entities of associated countries to participate in programme actions on equal terms with entities of EU countries. 👉 Which are the 18 countries that are eligible so far? 👉 How do associated countries benefit from and contribute to Horizon Europe? Ours Kateryna Kravchuk and Anna Karnaukh are the authors and project experts.   The document presents key takeaways from the series of activities by Cultural Relations Platform in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport, and Culture of the European Commission to analyse and address the evolving landscape of Ukrainian culture and creative industries sector.   In the document you will find: - key findings and recommendations for EU-UA cooperation in culture and creative industries; - the first systemic attempt to view the CCS development in Ukraine from the angle of social cohesion, regional development, economic growth, resilience and recovery.   The project activities involved participation of: - 498 stakeholders from the culture and creative industries in Ukraine as survey participants - 60+ representatives from the leading CCS organisations in Ukraine and the EU joining the project online and onsite activities.   “Culture can contribute to the resilience and recovery of Ukraine, only when it is resilient itself”, - one of the key messages that stemmed from the project activities. We hope that the findings will grow into policies and projects supporting this approach. In Ukraine, A Union For IT Specialists Was Launched Diia.City.Union., an association inside the Diia City (a legal and tax regime for Ukrainian IT companies), was presented during Tech Ecosystem Summit 2024. The mission of the Association is to build a powerful IT industry in Ukraine that would successfully compete in the international arena and foster innovation worldwide. The association focuses on creating transparent and favourable conditions that will enable the predictable long-term development of Diia.City residents’ businesses. We had a productive meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology, Huynh Thanh Dat, and Vietnamese scholars in Germany. We discussed challenges and proposed solutions for enhancing cooperation in science, technology, and innovation between Vietnam and Germany. Key issues like legal frameworks, financial support, and policies for attracting Vietnamese intellectuals abroad were addressed.
