Here’s one way to look your best in your headshots. Use a professional makeup artist, preferably one that works in-studio with your photographer. Why? 1. Applying makeup for photography is different than applying makeup for everyday life. And applying makeup for headshots is different than it is for general photography. I’m not talking about half or three quarter body images that are loosely called “headshots”. Makeup for a true headshot, going no lower than just below the collar bone, has to be applied very subtly and still look like it does in your everyday life. 2. Finding a photographer that has an in-studio makeup artist has one important advantage. It allows you to have some test shots created so you can look at the results and make any necessary corrections on the spot. You can’t do that if you’ve had your makeup applied off site. One bonus advantage: A lot of makeup artists also style hair!
