Over the past five years, technological advancements have significantly changed retail software development and shopping experiences in the Canadian market. Global changes in trade policies and agreements, such as the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement), have influenced the cost and availability of goods. At the same time, fluctuations in tariffs and trade barriers have also affected the retail supply chain and pricing strategies. Taking into account these significant changes, we have decided to write a new article that explores the key technologies driving the transformation of Canadian retail and to show our readers how this market has changed in Canada over the past five years. https://lnkd.in/euwMpk3z

Everybody needs good neighbours – and it seems online deliveries are proving the point! A new survey in the UK has revealed that three-quarters of the public regularly take in parcels for their neighbours, a third believe doing so creates more of a community, and one in six say it has helped them meet new neighbours. This is further evidence of the benefits – and convenience – to be had from eCommerce. Which is very good news for online retailers. Nice to know that the parcels we ship and deliver all over the world for our eCommerce retail clients are helping to build communities. #dutyreclaim #duty #ecommerce #crossborder #internationalshipping #ocsworldwide #globaldeliveries #USAshipping #trade #neighbours

So, I can walk across the street or do a 10-minute drive to buy a product and get it immediately. What will make me buy from an online vendor? 💪 Your price must be fairly comparable with what I can get on the street (no hidden commissions, etc) 💪 You must offer sufficient convenience to justify the delivery cost, which must be reasonable 💪 The delivery lead time MUST be decent and comparable to me picking it myself from across the street 💪 I must have sufficient selection on your platform to provide some product aggregation benefits 💪 You have to ship to me in the most hassle-free way possible i.e. 1 single delivery for multiple items, etc The above are why asset-light e-commerce is totally unworkable in a country where people live on a perpetual budget and cannot afford to wait for a plate of soup. Add in several layers of logistical inconveniences as well. 💎 From our experience, the ONLY model that works profitably for certain sectors is e-retail i.e. the platform has sufficient (20% < inventory <= 100%) inventory, doesn't need to charge an excessive commission because the margins are majorly retained in-house and the delivery lead times are negligible. Anything short of that is just a waste of time. The evidence already exists in Africa. Those who win are as close to the inventory as possible. Period! I am glad we now have investors who are betting on fulfilment centers. Asset-light will eventually die a natural death. There is very little good news in the retail sector so far... Among Member States for which data are available, the highest monthly increases in the total retail trade volume were recorded: in Luxembourg (+7.6%), Romania (+3.8%) and Cyprus (+1.5%). The largest decreases were observed: in Estonia (-2.6%), Slovakia (-1.0%) and Latvia (-0.8%).
Volume of retail trade up by 0.1% in the euro area and by 0.3% in the EU
