Time truly flies when you’re part of something meaningful. As I reflect on this incredible journey, I’m filled with gratitude for the experiences, the growth, and most importantly, the people who have shaped this year. Over the past 12 months, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with a diverse and brilliant group of individuals — each bringing their unique perspectives, expertise, and passion for change. From colleagues with expertise across every field to changemakers dedicated to making a real difference, every interaction has been a learning experience. It’s not just about technical know-how, but about understanding people, respecting diverse viewpoints, and fostering collaboration at every turn. What excites me the most is being part of groundbreaking projects like Nigeria’s first Large Language Model and LangEasy.ai—not just building technology, but creating tools that empower African voices and make AI more inclusive. With every line of code, every brainstorming session, and every challenge we overcome, I’m reminded that the work we’re doing is bigger than any one of us. We are contributing to the future of AI in Africa. But what truly drives me is the chance to work alongside a team that shares a deep commitment to ethical AI, cultural representation, and lasting positive change. At Awarri, we don’t just build technology; we build technology that matters. We strive to ensure our work is impactful, sustainable, and aligned with the values we hold dear. These Canatu news last week have made me very emotional. Reliving some old dreams by seeing others succeed. ☺️ We were raising the seed round for Canatu some 16 years ago with David Brown and sparring with e.g. Jouni Lounasmaa. I think there might have been some references to an IPO in the business plan (a written document those days), but surely with faster timing. 😉 The classic deep tech venture saying of twice as long and 3x funding need compared to first estimates to reach breakeven might have been surpassed here. But what sets Canatu apart from many other similar companies is the broadness of the application areas for the key innovations made. And the continued founders', management & investors' patience to keep building on those different product areas. This is why I believe the floatation makes sense and enables further long term value creation. The road from initial market demand and first RFQs to current business areas and revenue growth has not been straightforward. Many leaps of faith, some serendipity and great execution has been required along the way. Kudos to all at Canatu in Juha Kokkonen's lead for making it happen! Looking forward to the next decades with innovative Carbon based products!

A tree is only as strong as its root system. (I can't resist a metaphor, and with so many bonsais scattered around Vietnam, this one was bound to come up eventually!) At Bonsai Digital, we’ve slowly grown our roots into a team of seven — each of us equipped with different skills, strengths and expertise. In fact, it’s been a whole calendar year since the most recent addition to Bonsai (Ellen) joined our team, and we've only grown stronger for it. Our little Bonsai team (or the Bonsai Grove, as I like to call it) has really flourished as it’s grown more stable. Stability for our team means: 🌱 Knowing our strengths and weaknesses and playing to them 🌱 A supportive work environment where we are able to lean on and learn from one another  🌱Space to grow, climb, and take risks, knowing we have support to help us succeed I may have planted the Bonsai seed, but we water its soil and tend its leaves as a team.
