💡 💡 💡 Have you heard about "The Apprentice"? This provocative new film starring Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump and Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn is making waves, but not just for its performances. Despite critical acclaim, the movie faced numerous legal challenges and roadblocks to distribution. This situation raises important questions about artistic expression, freedom of speech, and the power dynamics in media. In short: • The film explores the early career of Donald Trump and his relationship with Roy Cohn • It's directed by Ali Abbasi and has received positive reviews at film festivals • Legal threats have complicated its release and marketing efforts As professionals, we often discuss innovation and disruption. But what happens when art disrupts? Should powerful figures be able to influence what stories are told about them/and when these stories should be released? I believe it's crucial to engage with challenging content, especially when it makes us uncomfortable. After exercising your right to vote today, why not continue your civic engagement by watching "The Apprentice"? It's now in theaters, offering a chance to form our own opinions on an important piece of our political history. With minimal marketing, it's a unique opportunity to explore thought-provoking cinema. Let's celebrate both our democracy and artistic expression! Have you seen it? What are your thoughts on the balance between artistic freedom and the rights of public figures? #TheApprentice #FreedomOfSpeech #MediaLiteracy #Streaming #ElectionDay ✨ 🎬 📽️

You are already on the podium… Till yesterday, we saw a lot of sports persons representing their country and some finding their way to the podium and making their people proud. Looking at such events, instills in us a desire to do the same. But we all are not sportsperson, we try to achieve the feat in whatever we do. We try to reach the top of the world or at least achieve a local maximum. I read this quote by @Inspiredtowrite, "Artists are not like athletes, we cannot win gold. We cannot 'beat' other creatives. We cannot come first. Sports is objective, our craft is subjective. Creating to 'be the best' is a waste of energy. Instead, create to connect to the people who need you. Because they are out there. Create in your way, because there is no right way. Take the pressure off, and focus own your unique brand of Magic." Dear Artists/Creators please live by these words. Please create just to create don't create to get a podium finish because since the day you chose art, you are already on the podium. #Art #Artists #Podium #PeerPressure #Creativity #Winning #MakeGoodArt

I try not to comment on media du jour but I might actually be able to lend something helpful here. That said, full disclosure, I missed the opening ceremonies myself. I'm told it wasn't well organized. I also understand the resemblance to great art and iconography was unintentional. The video link I'm posting breaks down the whole thing very well. I do disagree with some of the conclusions. 1) French are gonna French. A bunch of high fashion FABULOUS is only to be expected. 2) To the video's point "how could they not know?": Quite easily, in fact. You never know how any show will hit an audience until it happens. You're simply too close. You try, but you never know until after it happens. 3) Should they have stopped when they figured it out? Depends on when this realization took place. But the closer to event day, the more impossible this is. It sounds like the train was well away from the station when it happened. 4) It was/is still an opportunity to spread the right message. "That was not our intention. We are not trying to insult anyone. But we do want to celebrate everyone. We invite all, especially those we inadvertently hurt, to join us in happy happy yadayadaya." 5) I don't think they'll be remembered the way he describes. But I do think we will remember this. For the record, I'm only trying to explain how. I have no strong opinion on this. It sounds like a show that had lots of problems and this was one of them. But artists do have a responsibility for the fidelity of thier message, and audiences also need to understand context.
