Our #SFTechWeek event mini hackathon will now open to remote folks as well as suggested by our reddit friends! Sign up here: https://lu.ma/tqhutzy0 If you have a day job or out of town, you will still be able to participate in this mini hack, compete for prize and show case your work. Our hackathon chief Nicolás Hillison Chicano will be able to answer any questions you may have. Hackathons can feel meh—long hours, complicated projects, and not much to show for it but a caffeine hangover. So, we designed the Fleak AI Mini Hackathon to flip the script! Our in-person hack is designed for folks from all backgrounds to come together, connect, and build something cool without the usual hackathon grind. You won’t be starting from scratch—our project is the Reddit Personality App (check it out at reddit.fleak.ai). We’ll provide copy-paste-ready templates so you can focus on tweaking, adding your personal flair, and seeing your creativity shine through! And yeah, we’ll feed you, give out some fun swag, and you might even win big (👀 AirPods + a year of Fleak usage). Whether you're an experienced coder or someone just getting their feet wet, it’s going to be fun, fast-paced, and way more about collaboration than competition. #CMU #stanford #berkeley #hackathon #data #API

This year's #WebSummit was such a great time! 🎉 Tech conferences are always fun, but as a developer, they can sometimes feel a bit light on the *tech*. It's understandably difficult to get your product across in a way that suits all audiences, especially at an event as massive as this. One example of getting it right was Cheyn.AI, a voice-activated system that lets users perform complex, multi-step tasks online, while improving accessibility and efficiency for everyone. During the demo, I watched the underlying code running live in the terminal which, as a dev, was my favourite part. 👨💻 Just as impressive was how non-technical audiences could clearly see the product’s value and the collaboration behind it: code engine GmbH, a tech consultancy that provided the team, and Ebi M. of NearDynamics, the product owner, showcasing the success of their partnership—Cheyn.AI. 🌟 It wasn’t just an amazing tool—it was also a brilliant example of how to present a product in a way that connects with every type of audience, without compromise or confusion.

🌟 Thrilled to talk about my Journey of Microsoft Hackathon 2024 🌟 Everyday tons of people are falling victims to deep fakes. Whether its fake explicit images, news or audio recordings of things that never happened which are fabricated to make people believe is real through readily available AI powered tools. This is spreading like wildfire across social media blurring the lines between reality and malicious fiction. When we cannot control what's authentic or not, we allow ourselves to be vulnerable to the information we consume. It goes beyond that because we do not realize when we start forming our own biases/opinions/perceptions based on the content we consume. While we cannot trust what's real or fake, is our bias/perception still valid? How often do we take a step back and ask ourselves? Or verify the authenticity? This Hackathon I got to collaborate with some of the greatest minds at Microsoft from various parts of the world. What started out as a research project soon materialized into a functioning prototype called "Judge GPT" JudgeGPT is designed to demystify the truth behind AI based fake news/deep fakes and empower your perception. This project also shines light on how AI based fake news impacts elections and other decisions. Grateful that I got to meet Alexander Loth 4 years ago during Hackathon! Alex - it's been a pleasure to work with you and learn from you (Maybe we need to do another podcast collab to talk about this) So wonderful to see the recognition and proud to announce that Judge GPT has won in the Executive Challenge "Hack for Society" Thank you Teresa Hutson for leading the vision of how technology can be used to solve societal issues by extending the benefits of technology or helping to mitigate the harm. Glad that our vision of "Empowering Perception" resonated with yours. I am also uniquely positioned this year to be in a role where I get to be a trusted advisor for customers in U.S. State and Local Governments industry at Microsoft which has profoundly shaped my perspective. Every day, I learn about the impact of public sector and the significance of security in safeguarding their environments. I always say this because I truly believe in it - Everything that I am and everything that I will ever be is because of the people I've met, conversations I've had, books I've read, all the learnings from various experiences which makes me 'ME' and for that I'm forever grateful. So, this post is not just to announce an accomplishment but to thank all the people who have had a lasting impact on me and continue to inspire me every day! Thank you for everything - Zackary Carmichael Kiersten Keester Matias Ruiz Susan Locke Ewaliko Huey Nguyen Alexander Loth Benjamin LaBelle Michael Cruz David Zarling Charlene W. Mike Skelton Suraj Mavilakandy Anuraag Kate, PMP® Avery Bush Carol Blackman Abe Yoakum and this list goes on, but LinkedIn character limit doesn't let me go on! Nothing but gratitude💓 #hackathon

Do hackathons => ??? => Profit Last weekend I competed in TADHack, a programmable telecoms hackathon. Over the course of a day and half, I learned two new technologies from Strolid, Inc. (vcon and SCITT), explored the nature and integrity of customer support conversations, considered the ramifications of AI-generated content for testing, and looked into possible business cases. (Video after the break!) By the end of the event, I had coded a prototype which performed sentiment analysis on customer-agent conversations to pin-point specific issues in the discussion. Then I prepared and performed a video presentation to explore the work and my thinking. The judges said I was “very hands-on” and “serious about the work he was doing”, and awarded me a global prize!! But what next? How can I, in the current downturn, capitalise on the ability to understand technology, code a demo, and then demonstrate it? What roles are suitable for someone with this, rather disparate, skill set? I still get offers to present at tech conferences, but they’re rarely paid. DevRels teams aren’t biting. And the technical writing roles I’ve seen have been too prescriptive. Perhaps I should apply for a job called “professional hackathon-er”? Anyone got one? :) https://lnkd.in/eu2USV2R

🚀 A few months ago, I took a leap of faith. I signed up for the Google AI Hackathon. (15,000+ participants. First time for me. Not a developer. The odds? Slim.) It started with a random scroll through LinkedIn. I saw the hackathon and thought: “𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒏𝒐𝒕? 𝑨𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒕, 𝑰’𝒍𝒍 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒊 𝒎𝒐𝒅𝒆𝒍.” Here’s the thing about impulses: they’re fleeting bursts of energy. They have the highest probability to drive action the moment they appear. So, I followed mine. I signed up. No plan. No expectations. Initially, I wasn’t planning to actually participate. My real goal? 𝑨𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑮𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒊. But there was a catch: to get access, I needed to actually participate. So, I quickly filled out some details and honestly forgot about it. Then, out of nowhere, a cold email landed in my inbox. Someone else, driven by their impulse, reached out to collaborate. We teamed up, brainstormed, and built LeadSeeker - a solution to help businesses find leads online using AI. And here’s the wild part: Among almost 1,000 projects, we won the "Most Valuable for Business" category. It’s surreal to think this all started with a simple impulse - on both ends. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚? Pay attention to your impulses. They’re cues to act. Low-probability outcomes can happen when you take a chance. Big thanks to Google and Devpost for organizing such an incredible event. 👉 Learn more about our project here: "https://lnkd.in/efNR2BQh" And a huge shoutout to my collaborator, Jason Filby - this wouldn’t have been possible without you! Do you have an impulse you’ve been ignoring? It might be worth following today.

ETHGlobal Hackathon Recap ⚡️ ETHGlobal BKK was intense: 2000+ builders, 800+ projects deployed. We’re thrilled to announce that Reputable.Network won prizes from both Blockscout 🔭 and Uniswap Foundation Check out our project: https://lnkd.in/dwyRMXAJ Our demo showcased a custom reputation model that scores top DeFi developers, extracting value from Ethereum Mainnet to Unichain Sepolia by analyzing their contributions both on-chain and off-chain. Here’s why this matters ⬇️ With the launch of Unichain, Uniswap seeks to attract and reward high-impact DeFi developers. But how do you target top contributors in a brand-new ecosystem with no transaction history or metrics? That’s where Reputable steps in. Reputable enables protocols to create customizable reputation models that leverage Web3 & Web2 data, ensuring resources flow to the most impactful contributors while building trust-driven ecosystems. For this demo, we scored developers contributing to the top 100 DeFi protocols. Uniswap Foundation’s goals for Unichain: - Airdrops & Incentives – Reward top developers to foster loyalty & contributions. - Grants & Funding – Allocate resources to high-impact developers. - Governance – Empower high-reputation devs for a meritocratic ecosystem. Key Features: - Customizable Models – Tailored to unique needs & metrics. - Sybil-Resistant Attestations – Hybrid on-chain & off-chain scoring. - Monetizable Models – Tradable reputation assets. - Decentralized Validation – Consensus-driven data integrity. - Trustless Computation – Transparent, on-chain scoring. While the model we deployed at the Hackathon was relatively basic, we’ve got a far more advanced version running in our centralized beta: https://lnkd.in/dRM_2bm9 More to come. Stay tuned.
