“Diversity, equity and inclusion is not difficult, but it is complex.” This week, our Managing Partner Yesmith Sánchez (she/her) participated in a panel discussion at Mothers in Business MiB ry seminar on “Inclusivity in Action: Finnish Workplaces” hosted by KONE. The panel, moderated by Zama Ferin, was joined by Terhi Mäkelä (she/her) and Priya Janssen. Yesmith highlighted what makes diversity, equity and inclusion work sustainably in organizations: • Embedding diversity, equity and inclusion into organizational culture requires senior leadership buy-in and resource allocation. • It is important to help people feel comfortable sharing their uniqueness, without forcing them to bring their full selves to work. • Every organization’s journey toward diversity, equity and inclusion is different, and these differences must be approached with empathy and respect. Thank you to MiB ry and KONE for providing a safe space for an honest, vulnerable, and important conversation.

🌏 Opening the LeadWomen APAC DEI Summit 2024 with a Vision for "Humanity Rebalanced" 🌏 Our first panel, "DEI Thought Leadership – Asian Context," was a thought-provoking deep dive into the ways Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion must be reimagined to reflect Asia’s cultural and organisational landscapes. Under the expert guidance of moderator Anne Abraham, distinguished speakers Ruslan Islahudin (PETRONAS), Mahuran Saro Sariki (TalentCorp), Kay Luan TAY (FIDE Forum), and Jukhee Hong (ASEAN-BAC Malaysia) explored the unique opportunities and challenges of adapting global DEI frameworks to our region. The discussion emphasised the need for a region-specific approach: one that respects cultural hierarchies and family-oriented values while ensuring diverse perspectives are included in every boardroom. Key themes included Malaysia’s ongoing DEI progress, the crucial role of governance in fostering inclusive leadership, and positioning DEI not merely as an organisational asset but as a national priority. Audience interaction through live Q&A and Slido underscored the depth of engagement, inviting reflections on how DEI can truly rebalance humanity. As the summit progresses, this session leaves a powerful reminder that inclusive practices are not just about fairness - they are essential drivers of resilience and sustainable growth across Asia. Together, we're setting the stage for a more inclusive, balanced future.🌱 #HumanityRebalanced #APACDEISummit2024 #DEI #LeadWomen #InclusiveLeadership

Please join MPI Southern California in celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month! Tricia Yamaguchi, an MPISCC Member Volunteer, dissected a Smart Meetings article written by Jolene Jang. See below for Tricia's thoughts. "In highlighting Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, it’s time to think about how we, as meeting planners, can affect awareness and inclusion. According to Jolene Jang, in the Smart Meetings article, “Asian Inclusion with Jolene Jang”, “...meetings and meeting planners have the ability to reach a global scale. They could model what inclusivity looks like for the world. They can make a huge impact because they are the ones running the shows.” Let’s take this opportunity to think about who we want as speakers during this month and how we can highlight members of the AAPI community in our events. For those meeting planners in leadership roles, let’s take the time to think about those in the AAPI community within our teams and ensure that fostering a comfortable atmosphere allows for one to feel, “they can bring their authentic self to work.” According to Jolene Jang, an Asian Inclusivity Consultant, “A lot of times Asian Americans are going to assimilate to make it easier for everybody else, but they lose themselves by not bringing their whole self to work…” Fostering awareness of this can allow leaders to think about better ways to create an inclusive culture within their companies or departments. As we celebrate AAPI Heritage Month, let’s be mindful and bring awareness to the forefront of planning. "

Rushed to the DEI event hosted by KONE in collaboration with Mothers in Business MiB ry at Aalto Design Factory from our HQ today. Terhi Mäkelä (she/her) , our Director of Leadership and Culture, emphasized that diversity is in our DNA—it makes us unique—and inclusion is what makes us powerful. After all, we serve 100 countries and are a team of 150 nationalities, speaking hundreds of languages. This commitment is reflected in the representation in our leadership, our talent practices, and our data-driven decision-making. We are incredibly transparent in our communication, and are deeply committed to contributing as global citizens, particularly in sustainability and innovation. One of our goals is to raise our representation to 35% by 2030. We are actively exploring ways to hire talent with diverse experiences to complement the competencies we already have, and we celebrate our differences as the source of our collective strength. We are also expanding our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), especially in the area of mental health. Additionally, we provide leadership training to ensure our managers can support their teams in ways that resonate with their unique backgrounds. We acknowledge there is still a lot—lot, LOT—more to do, but our hearts and minds are in this together to build a future that is more equitable, where everyone has equal opportunities and a true sense of belonging. In this, we are proud to set the pace 🚀🌍 #KONEDEI #DEI #equity #culture

🌟 The Great Rebalance: People, Purpose & Profit 🌟 Day 1 of the APAC DEI Summit kicked off with an insightful keynote moderated by Anne Abraham (LeadWomen) and co-moderated by Tracy Ann Curtis (TAC Global LLC). The panel brought together inspiring leaders like Siti Hurrairah (Shell) and Kathy Matsui (MPower Partners), who delved into the powerful role that purpose-driven companies can play in creating lasting impact while driving profitability. Our speakers highlighted that prioritising Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) isn’t just a nice-to-have - it’s an essential driver of sustainable growth across Asia. As businesses increasingly align with societal values, they’re discovering that purpose doesn’t just build brand; it amplifies employee engagement and strengthens community ties. The panellists shared actionable insights on embedding purpose into every level of business operations, demonstrating how this approach boosts both organisational success and long-term resilience. As our world continues to change, balancing people, purpose, and profit is more important - and more possible - than ever before. 💼✨ #APACDEISummit2024 #PurposeDrivenBusiness #SustainableGrowth #DEI

People-first. It’s a term we hear a lot. But what does it actually mean? For me, it’s more than just supporting wellbeing - being people-first is about understanding that a company is nothing without it’s people. And to build a people-first culture is to acknowledge that truth, and work to create an environment where people can thrive at what they do by making sure they: 🔮 Know where they’re going with an inspiring vision 🛣️ Understand how they’re getting there with meaningful values 🏹 Empowered to achieve it with strong leadership 🫶 Supported along the way as human beings Delighted that we’ve proved we do that at Born Social and been awarded the IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising)‘s People-First Promise 🏵️
We’re proud to have been honoured with the IPA’s People First Promise ✨ This recognition is a testament to our commitment to creating an environment where our people feel valued, supported, and empowered. From fostering an inclusive and dynamic workplace to championing individual growth and wellbeing, we put our people at the heart of everything we do. Thank you to the IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising) and to our team for making Born Social an incredible place to be 💙

Discover how proactive recognition can be the key to fostering true workplace inclusion before decisions are made. In the moments between each challenge and victory, gratitude emerges as the stepping stone to every new beginning. Very proud that Enterprise Ireland have received inclusio’s Excellence in DEI Award™, for our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and demonstrating outstanding leadership in building inclusive cultures. This award, along with our Highly Commended CIPD Award for Embedding a Culture of Workplace wellbeing, illustrates the huge strides made in our cultural transformation under our THRIVE People Strategy- a strategy co-created by our people, across our 50 offices globally. We started with our overseas colleagues, to purposely cultivate inclusion and this has been replicated in our implementation with over 40% of our engagement group from our overseas locations - bringing a uniquely diverse approach to our work. Cultural change is hard, as unfortunately there aren’t one or two things you need to do, instead it’s a combination of all the actions you take each day & the behaviours you tolerate, encourage and reward. I am personally really proud of how far the organisation has come in the almost 2.5 years since I joined. This change has been achieved through the engagement of our people throughout our offices globally, an amazing group of colleagues who work tirelessly on behalf of our clients, and the Irish state, every day, whether client facing or enabling the work through internal delivery. I am really proud to work alongside them each day, celebrating their work which enables our clients' success, resulting in the creation of quality jobs in Ireland, which benefits all the people of Ireland. This award builds on the work of the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion group, including Olivia Jackman, Lydia Rogers, Ellen N., Sean Davis, Garrett Murray, Jonathan McMillan, Amanda Ward, as well as former colleagues including Deirbhrin Hanratty, Jean O' Sullivan, Stephen Creaner, as well as our many champions of this throughout the organisation. Thanks to Keith Hussey (he/him) for driving this work through his pivotal role as our E, D& I manager, as well as Olivia Jackman, Adrian Breen & all the People & Culture division. Thanks to Leo Clancy for believing in the importance of this enough to create the E,D&I role, as well as a huge shout out to our Senior Leadership team for their role in creating an inclusive environment each day! Please tag colleagues across the organisation who champion our culture and live our values as I always run out of room.........! Thanks Sandra Healy, Laura Stafford, Aaron & all the team at Inclusio for their partnership in enabling us to take an evidence based approach - we look forward to tracking our progress and continuing to learn from your insights!

'Lift as you Climb' Had a profound conversation with a great leader. And as she was talking, she uttered those words in the most gentle ways possible and I knew she meant those words, every single alphabet! Her persona, stance and just the aura was pure and true to form! She mentioned how profoundly those words are influenced by the simplest of principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and how it's embedded into her 'everyday' and how we can enhance its impact in several key ways: 1. Broadening perspectives Through DEI, we recognize and value the many diverse backgrounds and experiences that people bring. Heightening this awareness enhances our understanding & enables us to support and uplift individuals who face unique challenges in their journeys. (Just as a garden thrives through diverse flowers, our communities grow stronger when we embrace and uplift different perspectives) 2. Equitable opportunities This involves a tiring amount of actively dismantling barriers that somehow limit access to opportunities for folks. As one commits to “lift as you climb,” there is a hint of how DEI is embraced and its principles enhanced to create fair pathways for everyone, particularly for those who are sadly sidelined, marginalized or underrepresented. (Collaboration and understanding lead to a stronger, more inclusive community) 3. Fostering inclusivity This always feels magical for me. It's through DEI that we can involve & create an environment where everyone truly feels valued and included. This not only enhances collaboration for individuals from diverse backgrounds who can contribute varied perspectives and ideas but banks further on their experience which results in richer and more innovative solutions. (Celebrate differences to foster harmony, embrace unique voices to unlock richer connections) 4. Empowering Future Leaders Our leaders path ways for us but the onus is then on us to set foot on what they have pathed. Getting support from others who have experienced growth not only strengthens us, but our communities. And if carefully treaded, it helps cultivates our next generation of leaders. DEI emphasizes mentorship and sponsorship & encourages us to share our networks and knowledge to help others advance (& ourselves too). (By supporting one another, we build a resilient community where everyone thrives) 5. Cultural transformation Amazingly through DEI and the “lift as you climb” mindset, there comes a sense of priority and ownership which collectively helps build success over individual achievement. This shift encourages everyone to support one another’s growth, and somehow fosters a supportive ecosystem where all can thrive. (The responsibility is on us to create an environment where everyone can thrive, turning challenges into opportunities for growth and unity) #watssnexx #liftasyouclimb #deirocks #embracedei #thefirststepisalwaysthehardest #embracechange
