As I wrap up this chapter, I’m filled with a mix of excitement and gratitude. These past four months have been an incredible learning journey, and I’d like to share some key lessons that have shaped my experience:
𝟏. 𝐁𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞
Upon starting, I was informed that my role wouldn’t involve credit analysis or sales due to company policies. Initially, this was disheartening, but I quickly realized that every task holds value. By taking initiative and requesting additional responsibilities, I gained insights into the entire office operation.
𝟐. 𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬
No one will know what you don’t understand unless you ask. I reached out to credit and sales staff whenever I had free time, seeking advice on my career path. This approach gave me a deeper understanding of their roles, which has been invaluable for planning my own career. The same applies to work tasks—asking questions upfront can prevent costly mistakes later.
𝟑. 𝐁𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝
I learned this lesson the hard way when I underestimated a task I thought would be simple—calling branches to collect reports. Without proper preparation, I was caught off guard by questions I couldn’t answer. This experience taught me that preparation is key, no matter how confident you feel.
𝟒. 𝐁𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝
Working in operations, I noticed some outdated data entry methods and took the initiative to streamline the process using Excel shortcuts. This small change significantly improved efficiency, reducing redundant tasks by around 10%.
𝟓. 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬
Knowing my background in advising charity projects, the regional manager entrusted me with leading our ESG program. From start to finish, I managed every aspect of the project, and successfully pitched it to the team. Although my internship ended before I could see it through, it remains one of my proudest achievements.
This internship has been a transformative experience. It has taught me the importance of taking initiative, asking the right questions, being prepared, and always looking for ways to add value. I’m deeply grateful for the mentorship and support I received, and I’m eager to apply these lessons as I move forward in my career journey.
