On June 13th 2024 I have participated in great online event by Space Tech Expo Europe. Maxime Puteaux 🚀 from Novaspace (Merger of Euroconsult & SpaceTec Partners) was moderating a panel 'Do you think that's wise? Understanding the art of taking risk in the space industry'. The distinguished panelists: Candace Johnson from Seraphim Space Lucie Campagnolo from SpaceFounders France Stefan Schneider from EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme Benoît Deper from Aerospacelab Nayen P. from Satellite Applications Catapult Joram Voelklein from Alpine Space Ventures were discussing how investing in European space sector is done and how is changing in the era of #NewSpace. Key points: - Investing in space is becoming less risky. It is no more a sector where one can loose a lot of money. - With cheaper launches soon space will not be that much more risky than other industries. Investing in space is becoming an obvious move as the sector will be booming in the coming years. - European space sector need to keep on finding ways of collaborating to strengthen our position in the world to contribute to European security and defense in current politically sensitive times. - European space institutions are aware of the competition and it is gearing up to build collaborative ecosystem. - The risky investments are not to be taken by private money. It is the public sector that needs to push the unknown. Private capital will be taking only sure moves with high commercial prospects.

Most people know about SpaceX and Blue Origin, but here’s a third space company that you’ve probably never heard of—and you should. Craig Technologies, led by Carol Craig, is helping companies take their products into space, without the billion-dollar budgets. Want to know how they do it? Here are three things Carol shared with me that most small businesses overlook…👇🏻 NASA Surplus Opportunities: While most companies dream of multi-million dollar contracts, Carol secured NASA’s surplus equipment—for free. It wasn’t just equipment though; it was the beginning of Craig Technologies' move into space testing. Cost-Effective Space Testing: Think you need to spend millions to test a product in space? Carol’s company has done it for as low as $10K. Most businesses don’t realize space isn’t as out of reach as they think. Leverage What You Have: “I didn’t start with investors or outside funding,” Carol said. “I double-mortgaged my home and used personal assets to grow Craig Technologies into a space leader.” While Space firms led by billion dollar CEO's make headlines, Craig Technologies is quietly paving the way for affordable space innovation. To hear her complete story. https://lnkd.in/emeRe4b2 For more inspiring entrepreneurs of winning at federal contracting, tune into Govcon Giants podcast now playing 7 days a week. Thinking about working with Space Force come meet them at our GCG Summit in Miami, November 14 and 15. The European space sector faces a critical challenge - the ever-growing population of satellites and space debris in Earth's orbits. 📈 With over 2,500 non-operational satellites, 36,500 debris pieces larger than 10 cm, and 1 million pieces between 1-10 cm, the risk of collisions, fragmentation, and re-entries is escalating. These events jeopardize space infrastructure, degrading assets and potentially rendering orbits unusable. 💥 Developing technologies for space debris mitigation, active debris removal, and in-space recycling of dysfunctional orbital assets is essential. This approach mitigates debris growth and offers opportunities for re-utilizing space assets and in-space refueling. The European Innovation Council (EIC) Pathfinder Programme offers comprehensive support from TRL 1 to 4, covering 100% of project costs. The EIC Pathfinder Challenge “Strengthening the sustainability and resilience of EU space infrastructure” focuses on green, compact, and affordable de-orbiting solutions to address the need for sustainable space operations and protect space infrastructure. 🛰️ Key Objectives of this Challenge: 👉 Developing Advanced Debris Mitigation Technologies 👉 In-Space Recycling of Orbital Assets 👉 Ensuring Sustainable Space Operations 👉 Enhancing Collision Avoidance Capabilities With over 20 years of experience, we at Evolution Europe are a leading financial consultancy that specializes in securing funding for startups. We provide comprehensive support, from grant applications to post-grant project management, ensuring your innovative projects receive the funding they need. It was great to talk about how at #iLAuNCH we are developing high value #space #manufacturing exports ready to sell on international markets. Instead of selling 1273 tons of dirt to create a single job, a space component the size of my fist can sell for a price to create 10 #AustralianJobs, and that alone is a great reason for it to be a national mission. However, the sector is in dire need of support to capitalise on those gains. iLAuNCH is currently helping, but difficult moneyary conditions and uncertain funding begs the question, what is next? Space is hard, and it is a high risk and high reward field. I hope to help Australia capture the rewards of space deeptech and create a lot of futuristic space jobs to inspire our children.
Our iLAuNCH Trailblazer CTO Dr. Joni Sytsma confirming we are focused to ensure 80% of our projects lead to exports. I concur - the Australian domestic market is a fraction of the global market, and #OzSpace wins when we scale. Australia in Space

🚀News: Interstellar Secures ¥4.63 Billion SBIR Grant from Japanese Government We successfully passed the stage-gate review for the Small Business Innovation Research Program Phase 3 (SBIR Phase 3) on September 19, 2024. Administered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to promote R&D in startups, the program will grant Interstellar up to ¥4.63 billion in new funding. The Japanese government has set a target of achieving 30 domestic rocket launches annually by the early 2030s. This goal, part of the Space Strategy Fund Basic Policy, involves utilizing both government and commercial rockets to address various launch needs both domestically and internationally. We are committed to advancing Japan’s independent access to space through the development of ZERO, a low-cost, high-frequency rocket designed for launching small satellites. We also aim to establish a globally competitive space transportation system. Read more for the details: https://lnkd.in/gncqTcrV

Pacome Revillon, CEO of Novaspace (Merger of Euroconsult & SpaceTec Partners) concluded a successful World Satellite Business Week #WSBW by honouring space sector leaders, including a cohort of businesses for the Excellence in Earth Observation Awards. Winners including: BlackSky, for Leading In EO Business, SI Analytics, for Newcomer Information Business, D-Orbit, for Pioneer Space Business , and finally NorthStar for Sustainable Development and Business. Also, ODYSSEUS Space, winner of the Finspace Competition for emerging start-ups, is honoured with us on the podium. Highlighting the achievements of other players in the commercial space sector enriches our understanding of how the sector is evolving. In our case, commercial SSA services will enable EO and other LEO players to coexist safely and avoid collisions. Accessing prime orbital regimes with precise and timely collision avoidance assistance will enable sustainable development in near-Earth space. Thank you to everyone at Novaspace Summits (Merger of Euroconsult and SpaceTec Partners) for organising this event and helping the commercial space sector. #commercialspace #spacetech #innovation #sustainability
