I am delighted and honoured to be selected to join the national judging panel for the AmCham Australia Alliance Awards, assessing the #CleanEnergy category The quality of the Clean Energy nominations are truly impressive and have presented the judges a real challenge. The nominations received span a diverse array of disciplines and technologies which will play a vital role in the breakthroughs required to deliver sustainable low carbon intensity, cost effective and scalable solutions for a planet and community in need. In reflection, its been satisfying and inspiring to see the level of innovation and entrepreneurship, and that this is alive and well in Australia. We really need to ensure these ideas and innovators can be supported by ongoing funding sourced from within Australia. Of equal importance, I cannot help feel that these incredible individuals and organisations should be encouraged and supported to be able to get in front of our schools across the country to inspire our kids and give them something to aspire to and dream about. #stem #transition Judging has focused on several key criteria : - Level of Achievement in 2024 - Relevance of work to the award category and its commercial growth - Trailblazing new ideas, initiatives, addressing challenges and solving problems - Established a positive/ongoing connection and contribution to US-Aus Alliance - Embodies the Spirit of the AmCham Alliance Awards The Spirit of the AmCham Alliance Awards The Awards were inaugurated in 2021 to identify the pathfinders in the industries that will shape the future of economic collaboration between Australia and the USA. These industries include Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, Digital Economy, Clean Energy, Quantum and Space. Within these fields, AmCham Alliance Awards recognise and celebrate emerging and exceptional leaders in the first two thirds of their careers - the next generation of Australian and American pioneers on the technological frontiers, creating economic prosperity and building people-to-people engagement in the Alliance. All will be revealed on November 14th at the Gala Dinner event. https://lnkd.in/gEJVw_WM Siriana Nair Natalie Meyer Josh Edwards Bill Townsend Daniel Bloch Graeme Potger Jonathon Curry L. Last Saturday, International Elite Capital (IEC) was proud to be one of the sponsors of the prestigious Mingde Forum at the Yale Club. As Vice Chair of the RUC NAAA, I had the honor of moderating a dynamic fireside chat between Rick Roberts, former Federal Reserve executive, and Shanquan Li, Senior Portfolio Manager at Invesco. With over 170 attendees, we engaged in deep discussions on critical topics, including economic policy directions after President-elect Trump's upcoming term, inflationary pressures, and the challenges posed by the U.S. deficit. While the time was short, the exchange of ideas reinforced the importance of fostering ongoing dialogue around these pressing issues. This year’s theme, “Insights and Decisions in an Era of Global Paradigm Shifts,” brought together over 20 distinguished experts from academia, finance, and industry. Key discussions focused on post-election policy outlooks, macroeconomic trends, market opportunities, and strategies for global business expansion. Special appreciation goes to Regina Monje from United Nations Global Compact and Geoffrey Sant from Pillsbury, whose fresh perspectives on sustainability and cross-cultural business strategies enriched the conversations. Their emphasis on fostering legal compliance, improving stakeholder communication when operating abroad struck a chord with many. At IEC, we are committed to enhancing cross-cultural investor relations by building bridges between diverse stakeholders and promoting mutual understanding. As a global player, we aim to help businesses navigate the complexities of international markets while driving meaningful engagement and long-term value creation. The Mingde Forum continues to serve as a vital platform for fostering U.S.-China cooperation and providing actionable insights. We are excited to further these conversations and strengthen our mission to connect ideas, cultures, and markets. #MingdeForum #USChinaRelations #CrossCulturalDialogue #GlobalStrategy #InvestorRelations

𝗕𝘂𝗯𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘣, (/ ˈbʌb əl /) a newly coined term (yes, by us) that refers to the fine art of networking, mingling, and actively engaging in discussions within the renowned EU bubble. It’s what our colleagues at Publyon excel at and we’re eager to share some valuable insights on their behalf. Today, our Director Cathy Kremer and Senior Consultant Victoria-Eliza Druță were bubbling around at the POLITICO Europe's #PoliticoCompetitiveWeek session on economic security. From Pascal Lamy to Enrico Letta to representatives from the European institutions and Member States, the event featured a great series of panel discussing geopolitics, economic security, Europe’s critical assets and more pressing issues facing the EU, all from different stakeholders' perspectives. The EU, though not as heavily trade reliant as China, remains fundamentally integrated into the global economy, making a full-scale decoupling unrealistic and detrimental to its interests. In this sense, the EU's trade policy must remain open. Derisking, however, begs the question on what exactly the EU's common risks are and how the EU should respond to it. This highlights the urgent need for a robust Economic Security Strategy, anchored in the three pivotal pillars: Protect, (and especially) Promote and Partner. 📩 Get in touch if you want to meet us at the next event!

WE NEED A BETTER COMPETITION POLICY IN EUROPE❗ Last week, the European Commission and DG COMP hosted the fifth episode of the Markets for People panel debate, moderated by Executive Vice President of the Commission Margrethe Vestager. Our director, Sofie Carsten Nielsen participated in the debate alongside Michael Svarer, Jakob Hald and Nina Z. Munch-Perrin. A robust competition policy is of vital importance for the future of Europe, especially for the biosolutions sector. Here are some key takeaways from the debate on how a better competition policy can serve Europe well 👇 👉 Competition policy can ensure a level playing field that will encourage companies to innovate and create rather than plateau 🔬 👉 European competition suffers from regulatory burdens and entry barriers that cripple companies and innovation, so the solutions of the future grow up elsewhere, even if born here. With a competition policy, we can ensure tempo, financing and scaling 💶 👉 Make sure that the EU’s innovation principle is actually enforced, also when it comes to competition policy, in order for new solutions to be fairly treated when accessing the single market 📄 A huge thank you to Mrs. Vestager for her outstanding moderation and to all the debaters on the panel for helping to underscore the necessity of a competition policy that not only promotes fair business practices, but also drives the adoption of innovative and sustainable solutions 👏 #EUBioCoalition #Biosolutions #Sustainability #Resilience #Competitiveness #SustainableEurope #GreenTransition #CompetitionPolicy

"Unleashing the full potential of the European #innovation ecosystem" - this was the title of a timely conference organised by the European University Association and the Hungarian Presidency on the day after the presentation of Mario Draghi's report on the future of European competitiveness (see my previous post). Here are 3️⃣ thoughts that emerged from the discussion with my fellow panelists Tor Hernes MANUEL IRUN MOLINA Annick Castiaux, PhD Barnabas Malnay, led by the moderator Kamila Kozirog 💡 #innovation ecosystems tend to be fragmented as a result of the concentration of innovation around geographic hubs. Such fragmentation may not in itself be a problem as long as 1) connections between ecosystems allow knowledge, talent and capital to move freely, 2) there is sufficient investment in building and strengthening innovation ecosystems in less developed regions, 3) the benefits of innovation are spread equitably. 💶 there is a need for better alignment of EU, national and regional #innovation policy and funding (both public and private). EU public funding of R&I makes up app. 10% of total public R&I funding in the EU - 90% coming from EU Member States. 🚀 smart specialisation by regions around breakthrough technologies most relevant for the EU's #competitiveness will be key to overcome the mid-technology trap (https://lnkd.in/eVEVkXmh) Anna Panagopoulou Alexandr Hobza Paweł Świeboda Michiel Scheffer Keith Sequeira Jekaterina Novikova Magda De Carli Ágota Dávid Natasa Kurucki Martin Kern Isidro Laso Ágota Dávid Luca Perego Catherine Wendt Paola Momoli Gerald CULTOT

Please join us at the Academy of International Business (AIB) Annual Meeting in Seoul on July 4 for a fabulous panel discussion on "Industrial Policy and Global Value Chains in an Era of Disruptions" organized by Pavida Pananond and featuring Steven Altman, Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra, Tony Fang, Geoffrey Jones, and Pavida Pananond. This panel will discuss how changes in government policy toward economic development can affect the structure, governance, and dynamics of global industries in an era of increasing disruptions. The renewal of industrial policy adoption in the name of national economic security may trigger further changes and reconfigurations in global industries. In this discussion panel, we bring together several experienced researchers to share their views on how changes in government directions toward economic development bear implications on the value chain of global industries.
