I am thrilled to announce my return to JLL Technologies! So many good things are ahead, and I couldn’t be more excited to rejoin this incredible team! When I originally left JLL, I did so to gain a deeper understanding of implementations, customers’ Day-2 operations, and the challenges they face. Since then, I’ve had the chance to experience those struggles firsthand. Let’s just say, I’ve been through a Quagmire—and I’ve learned a lot. (So, indulge me as I share for both personal reflection and a little collective validation!) Here are some key lessons I’ve picked up along the way: - System misalignment can be painful: I’ve experienced the frustration of working with a company’s chosen system of record, only to find it constrained by processes designed for simpler solutions and lack scalability. - Change is hard—and expensive: Process-driven change on complex systems is far more challenging, time-intensive, and costly than I ever imagined. - Teams matter, and gaps hurt: Projects suffer when they lack a full team of properly skilled and responsible resources. Even high-value contributors can’t fully compensate for capacity gaps, no matter how well-intentioned they are. - Clarity is everything: Absolute clarity in communication is essential— when context is dismissed because leadership doesn't understand, success is at risk. - Leadership and hope are powerful: Believing in your leadership and having hope at your core can make all the difference in your work experience. I’m so grateful for what I’ve learned, and I’m ready to bring these lessons back to JLL Technologies to make an even greater impact. Let’s go!

B Corp Month comes to a close, so what’s next? We’re already looking forward to spending the rest of the year finding new ways to grow our impact. Being a B Corp challenges us to look critically at all areas of our operations, to look at the business behind our projects. We measure, manage, and improve positive impact performance for environment, communities, customers, suppliers, employees, and shareholders. It is not a one-off checklist, but an active incentive to keep taking steps. We are proud of the steps we have taken till now. Internal awareness has grown and our social impact team is mapping out a route for Octatube, aligned with the SDG’s by the United Nations. We want to keep learning and do better, for our people and our planet. Particularly when it comes to environmental impact, there is still much to be done and gained for us, and in the construction industry in general. We call on other companies in the Dutch construction sector to look at how to make a lasting positive impact on people, community and environment. We are looking forward to realising challenging architecture, resposibly and sustainable. "𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴... 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵." 💣 Imagine saying that to executives from leading global #realestate service providers & #technology companies, global consultants, advisors & Fortune 100 occupiers… the very people who are leading the way with the successes they’re delivering in technology & real estate… That was the theme of the opening keynote I was invited to give at PwC’s 2nd Annual Occupier Summit. The summit’s overall theme: "𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆", aligned perfectly with my experience & passion given my entire career has been focused on the intersection of the physical & digital worlds. With the theme of my keynote, I’d be remiss if I didn't admit that, historically, my self-worth would get triggered causing me to become a little defensive (OK, at times maybe a lot) when people would say something similar to me. Being told that in spite of all I & my team had accomplished on a specific initiative, was not enough… That even with a client’s & C-suite execs praising a success, I’d managed aspects of it incorrectly or should have approached something differently. PwC had promised attendees that we would discuss new ways of "harnessing the power of technology" & that “together we can unlock new opportunities & drive collective success in the real estate industry” & I realized the executives in attendance weren’t taking time out of their extraordinarily busy schedules for a day of ego-stroking (ok, maybe a little bit… we all like to hear our hard work & accomplishments acknowledged). They wanted to be challenged & inspired… and the summit attendees readily accepted the exhortation to go “on the offensive” rather than becoming defensive. Challenging my assertions, asking questions, sharing experiences & perspectives with people who, even if from other companies or competitors, were like-minded in what is needed for our industry. In the coming days, I will share why I think that “whatever you’re doing… it’s probably not enough.” While the summit was focused on the real estate industry, I believe you’ll find that the key points have relevance for every industry & technology initiative to unlock new opportunities and drive more success for your team, your business, your company & yourself. I was inspired, challenged & humbled by the engaging responses from the summit attendees & I invite them to share their additional perspectives & thoughts. While these posts reflect my thoughts & views, I would be remiss if I didn’t credit the others who provided the inspiration & #motivation:  IFMA’s Executive Summit series was the originating inspiration (more on that in the next post) and PwC’s Occupier Summit provided the motivation to put my proverbial pen to paper. I Started Up Something … I have taken a deep breath being brave enough to share this post at this platform .. but Today, on International Women's Day, I want to share my journey and what I fight for. 🌍💼 For 25 years, I've navigated a career in a global company of 17,000, visiting most of Ramboll's main offices worldwide. Often, I was the only woman among men in black suits in airport business lounges. My passion for creativity has always traveled with me, neatly packed in my hand luggage, earning me a SAS lifetime gold membership from all the miles flown – a bittersweet achievement in today's climate-aware world. Three years ago, I took a leap and turned my hobby (I produce leather bags made by myself) into a small business alongside my full-time job. Balancing a career and a growing business is challenging, as I am not yet ready to give up my Ramboll career. The fight for managing both led me to request part-time work, initially met with resistance as how could I manage a team and be running complex IT systems being part-time. Fortunately, change is the only constant. An organizational change brought me into a new setup where we saw potential where others saw problems, my shift to a four-day workweek got approved, making my dream about spending more time on my own business alongside my career still being a people manager easier. In an industry where part-time work is rare, this victory was more than personal; it was a step towards broader acceptance of flexible work arrangements. As I reflect on my career and entrepreneurial journey, I realize that while I cherish the opportunities I've been given, I'm also contemplating a future that might not include being an employee for another 17 years (when I turn 69). I started up something - a passion, a business, a movement towards where career can meet creativity and being your own boss. Just to be clear though I have no plans of leaving Ramboll and I cherish the opportunity of a 4 days work week, which is my main point with this post. Having the opportunity to do both this is what I fight for 😀 I produce leather bags in upcycled leather to compensate for all my miles flown 😅.. or …mostly because I love being creative.
