The new year is on the horizon and hopefully we are all reflecting on the year gone by. Interestingly, how many of us "audit" on our current year? We can take 8 major areas of our life that need to be reviewed - health, finances, personal development, career, relationships, self-care, home life and free time. Look closely at how we started at the beginning of the year in these areas, and where we are at this moment: are we better now or worse? What changed? What didn't work? What could have gone better? This would lead us to figure out critical adjustments we need to take to jumpstart our new journey in 2025! Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous NEW YEAR!

Reflecting on this journey, I often shared the highlights, our growth, our expanding team, and the exciting strides we're making. Yet... as with any journey, there's a flip side. The reality of running a business on Martha's Vineyard is not without incredible challenges, and to be honest we are facing them head-on at this very moment. We're optimistic about the upcoming summer season, but it's also a make-or-break period for us. Tough decisions may loom if things don't go as planned... Despite our efforts, financial hurdles persist. Expenses are soaring while revenue growth has plateaued. It's clear: we need to push harder and explore new avenues for income. But that comes with its own set of unique challenges... - Is the team prepared to push the gas and take us to the next level? - Does the team want the next level, or do we need to reevaluate even the personnel? - How will we respond as a unit to the difficulties that exist currently? This business isn't just about the bottom line. If it was theres plenty of easier ways to make a paycheck. To be transparent, I have made basically zero dollars from this business but it's bigger then all that... its about seizing opportunities, fostering growth, and leaving a lasting impact on the island I have called home for 20+ years. As a leader, I recognize the importance of accountability for myself, my team, and my business. It's a responsibility I embrace wholeheartedly and plan to uphold as time goes on. Together, we're writing a story of resilience, perseverance, and ultimately, success. I hope to revisit this post in 6 months and be proud of where we stand!

𝗙𝟭 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 – 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘆? In Formula One, the summer break spans four weeks between Spa and Zandvoort, with mandatory factory closures for a well-deserved pause. Especially in this 24-race season that is getting more competitive by the weekend not a luxury but a necessity! In Finance, while we don’t have enforced breaks, many professionals take time off in August due to school-going kids. And especially in Southern Europe August sees working life virtually stop as most businesses close and everyone goes on vacation. This creates unique challenges for businesses. 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸: ✔ Recharging: Downtime boosts productivity, creativity, and effectiveness. ✔ Burnout Prevention: Time off maintains long-term productivity and mental health. ✔ Family Time: Quality family time improves happiness and work-life balance. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸: ❌ Workflow Disruptions: Reduced staffing slows down critical processes. ❌ 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗗𝗶𝗽𝘀: August often sees delayed payments, affecting cash flow. ❌ Coverage Issues: Ensuring all tasks are covered requires careful planning. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗗𝗶𝗽: ✅ 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻: Anticipate the dip in your cash flow forecast. ✅ 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁: Keep pushing cash collections even during breaks. ✅ 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀: Prioritize cash collection in early September. ✅ 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁-𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴: Consider options to cover cash flow gaps. In F1, the summer break helps teams reset. In Finance, we face summer challenges, especially with cashflow. For strategies to navigate the summer cashflow dip or manage workloads effectively, reach out. Let’s keep your finance team healthy and productive year-round. PS: Despite the break, expect continued posts on F1 meets Finance parallels. With silly season now officially started, from Carlos Sainz joining Williams to Perez’s situation at Red Bull, there's plenty happening off the track! 😎 #F1 #Finance #TeamManagement #CashFlow #BusinessStrategy #Leadership #CorporateFinance

"Our best days are in front of us. The company we have built is our launching pad into the future as we capitalize over time on an enormous number of opportunities we could only dream about a decade or two ago.
