Nice take on the #Coliving future prospects. Difficult to argue as the model seems aligned with society's transition to more mobile, flexible and shared economy. What's more, it builds on the strong premises of making access to quality living more democratized and egalitarian. Perhaps not permanent or-long term solution for all, but a temporary transitory solution for many in their lives and careers. #pbsa #coliving #flexliving #studenthousing #smartliving #alternativeassets

Life is better together: A new era of coliving and beyond At Vuvale, we believe “life is better together”. It’s more than a tagline, it’s a philosophy that drives everything we do. I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Vuvale to push the boundaries towards an intentional lifestyle where connection, growth and wellbeing take center stage. Each month, we’ll release a new article shining a light on why we believe in coliving, how it works, and why it’s reshaping the future of living. Our first article, "Coliving: Life is better together" dives into: - The origins of coliving as a return to community-focused living. - Vuvale’s innovative approach to combining private with thriving shared spaces. - How Vuvale fosters connection, collaboration and a purpose-driven lifestyle. 🔍 Why are we doing this? 🏘 Did you know this past weekend marked National Cohousing Weekend? I'll be the first to admit I had no idea this was even a thing! Why should you care?! ⬇ *Bold prediction*: you will have a friend or family member living in cohousing or coliving within the next 5-10 years. For most of us, cohousing remains a novel concept, yet it's one that has been perfected in countries like Denmark and Sweden, and is gaining traction in the U.S. "Cohousing" and "coliving" refer to different living arrangements (differentiated mostly by ownership structure, design & build process, and governance paradigms) but they share the most important common elements: community building and shared spaces/resources. From a first-principles standpoint, these living arrangements simply make the most sense: more sustainable, less lonely, lower cost of living, efficient use of space. As we figure out what to do with nearly 1 Billion square feet of empty office space across the U.S., conversion to cohousing and coliving will prove to be a clever and effective solution. Signs of traction: - The 5BORO Institute published a seminal report a few months ago exploring flexible coliving: https://lnkd.in/gm_PXucm - Charles Durrett and The Cohousing Company wrote about "neighborhoods in the sky" (aka cohousing in buildings) in their latest newsletter: https://lnkd.in/g9PmWgMB - The largest check written to date by a16z was a $350M check written last year to Flow (Adam Neumann's new real estate startup offering coliving) - personally, I still don't know whether to be excited or concerned about this, but it points to clear interest in this space. Interested in learning more? - Don't hesitate to reach out, I'm always happy to riff on this topic! #cohousing #coliving #adaptivereuse #foodforthought Have you heard of these terms before? Could this be the future of urban living in the U.S.?

I spent years living in coliving spaces, and yes, it completely changed my life. Here’s why: 🤯 2018 was a turning point for me. Moving to Hong Kong for my studies was overwhelming, to say the least. Mongkok – one of the most densely populated areas in the world – was unlike anything I had ever experienced. The apartments were tiny, the streets were loud and crowded, and I didn’t know a single person. My room was barely bigger than a bed. The culture shock was real, and to be honest, I struggled to find my footing at first. But then I turned to coliving once again, and my life completely changed: 1️⃣ 𝗔𝗹𝗹-𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲-𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿. No utility bills, no furniture shopping, no worries about lease contracts. Coliving was the perfect solution, allowing me to focus on what truly mattered – whether that was my studies, work, or just embracing life in a new city. Everything was taken care of, freeing up my mental space to focus on my goals fully. 2️⃣ 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝘂𝘅𝘂𝗿𝘆. In Hong Kong, where every square meter counts, coliving gave me more space than I had ever had before. Whether it was the gym, workspaces, or communal areas – these extra spaces provided not just physical room but also mental clarity. It was a luxury I wouldn’t have had in a typical apartment. 3️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. Coliving isn’t just about where you live; it’s a lifestyle. I met so many interesting and inspiring people who are still part of my life today. Fun fact: several of my friends met their partners in coliving – no need for dating apps! 😉 4️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 – 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆. Of course, there were moments when the rules were frustrating – longer stays with friends weren’t always allowed, depending on the operator. But the rules served a purpose, ensuring the shared living experience ran smoothly. 5️⃣ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 – 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴. People come and go. It can be tough. You build connections, and then suddenly, they’re gone. But this taught me to appreciate the present moment. Nothing lasts forever, and that’s exactly what makes those shared experiences so valuable. Would I do it again? Absolutely. Coliving didn’t just give me a place to live; it gave me an unforgettable experience. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, helped me grow, and showed me the importance of community and having space for creativity. If there were a cospace for parents in Zurich, I’d move in today. 😉 #Coliving #Lifestyle #International

My 4 tips if you want to start a coliving space: 1. Define the vibe - Think about the atmosphere you want to create and the type of people you want to attract. What type of clients do you want? Your positioning, offerings, and marketing will all depend on this. 2. Invest in the community - Many coliving spaces underestimate the power of building a strong community. This isn’t just marketing, these are soft skills that will make all the difference. - Structure the quality of your onboarding and the events at the house. 3. The location is key -Do you prefer a rural setting or the energy of an urban environment? -Think about connectivity: is it easy to access from the nearest airport or train station? 4. Design of your space -Where will the quiet zones, meeting rooms, and coworking spaces be? - Think about the user flow of the coliving space, which involves considering how colivers will interact with the different spaces and services in a smooth and intuitive way. Bonus tip: work on building partnerships with local people - Collaborate with local language teachers, farmers, yoga instructors and local associations. Let’s not just create spaces for people to work remotely, let’s build bridges between local culture and global nomads, creating beneficial experiences for everyone. María Mayordomo Iglesias Marco Traina, what could you add? :) #Sustainabletourism #coliving #algarve #entrepreneurship
