Check out this extremely interesting post from my colleague Alex!
The CPAWS · SNAP Canada Ocean Team has been super busy over the past few months on an exciting new project that is unlike anything we've done before... We've travelled from BC to the Bay of Fundy, from the St Lawrence River to St Johns, and all the way north to the frozen shores of the Hudson Bay and the polar bear capital of the world - Churchill, Manitoba. Our mission, to get people talking about the ocean and listen to what they have to say. Thanks to CPAWS chapters across Canada and Angus McAllister and his research team for undertaking this wild ride with us. We'll be sharing the results of this work far and wide over coming months - including a session at #IMCC7 this October. Stay tuned for more info. https://lnkd.in/gs8Sv9ce

For those focused on economic development in CT, this is an important read.
DEEP’s visit to the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce last month highlighted the benefits of the proposed Release-Based Cleanup Regulations to stakeholders from business and industry to banking to municipal officials. To more efficiently address polluted properties in our state, DEEP has been working in partnership with Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development and the Release-Based Cleanup Working Group to rethink our cleanup framework. 48 states already follow a release-based system, it’s time for #Connecticut to join in the benefit of faster, cheaper, and more predictable cleanups. Read up on how Goal 1 of 20BY26 makes the most of this partnership. https://lnkd.in/gEemqR-E

Purposeful community engagement like this is key to making informed decisions that benefit everyone. Well done to the team for prioritising community voices! I’m also very happy that we’re using Engagelink as the engagement tool—the direct integration with Council's Asset Management systems will save days in processing community data! #NoMoreExcel :) #assetmanagement #communityengagement #stakeholdermanagement

Short and long term support for small isolated systems at work here! Super important on many levels: · We know that many small systems are not financially or operationally sustainable. One key solution is to consolidate the small system into a nearby regional authority. A key challenge is who will bear the expenses of developing a consolidation analysis and plan. · These small systems, mostly serving manufactured homes for Spanish-speaking families who work on farms, are falling in part and put these hardy people at risk. · Moonshot Missions is able through the #WaterTA program to provide support to prepare these systems for consolidation – evaluating engineering and governance issues. · Moonshot Missions also seeks to implement immediate steps to help secure clean water until consolidation can occur. A local community group with relationships in the region is essential – and we are blessed by the efforts of Pueblo Unido. Love this work by our #EFC West team, including Lydia Rossiter Reshet S. Gebremariam Joy Pearson EIT, MBA Genevieve Mancuso, P.E. Do you know a small system that can use a helpful hand to evaluate a plan to consolidate with a nearby Authority? Moonshot Missions is at the ready: info@moonshotmissions.org
Moonshot Missions visited the Coachella Valley to meet with small community water system owners. In partnership with Pueblo Unido, Moonshot hosted a community meeting to have a discussion and allow system owners to ask questions regarding the consolidation efforts of the Coachella Valley Water District. Moonshot Missions is working to meet the immediate needs of the systems and help the owners prepare for future consolidation.
