If you're a working parent, there's a good chance that you're paying for support to make that work. Whether that's childcare, housecleaning, dog walking, landscaping, or delivery services, many working parents end up employing help to support their careers. And now is the time to make sure you're doing what you need to do to take care of those folks you're employing. For teachers - gifts are great, but cash is better. If you're uncomfortable with cash (or it's against the rules), a Target gift card is a great way to give funds that can be used on anything from basic necessities to something fun. For domestic workers such as housecleaners - general guidance is 1-2 weeks pay, or the cost of an additional service. For USPS workers, they can accept an "unsolicited noncash gift valued at $20 or less." For anyone else you are thinking about holiday gifting, I'd use that same general guidance - approximately 1 week's worth of pay, or the cost of an additional service, plus of course a nice handwritten note. And now is the time to do it - both because it allows those you work with to plan their holiday budgeting better, but also to reduce the risk it falls off your to-do list in the holiday rush.

🎄 Parents, SAVE THE DATE: December 1st, 2024 🎄 All we want for Christmas is a Childcare Strategy – and believe us, we are fighting harder than ever to get that moving forward for families in NI! In the meantime though, and because we definitely don’t have enough in our plates, we decided to find other creative ways of supporting parents! After the success of last year’s Virtual Christmas Market (where we shared local, parent-run businesses through our stories), we’re thrilled to announce that we’re hosting our first ever in-person Christmas Market! We’ve teamed up with the amazing guys at DadBodsNI, BabyHub NI and YellowZest to create an affordable, fun, festive event for the whole family. ✨ Here’s What to Expect: • A showcase of family-run businesses—shop local and support fellow parents! • Festive activities for the kids, so you can enjoy a family-friendly day out. 📅 Date: 1st December 2024 📍 Location: Banana Block Are you a parent who owns a small business? Or do you know someone who does? DM us or tag them to apply as a vendor and be part of this magical day – you can also use the application link 👉 https://lnkd.in/e_9y7t_3. 🎁 Our goal is to make this event as affordable and accessible as possible, especially for families already burdened by the high costs of raising children and the increasing expenses of Christmas activities. To achieve this, we are seeking financial support through sponsorship. If you believe your organisation could contribute to making this event a reality, we'd love to discuss partnership opportunities. Your support would help cover the costs of Santa hire and workshops, allowing us to offer these experiences to families for free without stretching our already limited resources!

🚨 CHILDCARE CEOS: TIME IS RUNNING OUT 🚨 Let me ask you something... How much money are you leaving on the table simply because you don’t know what you don’t know about taxes? I remember when Danielle and Eric—owners of multiple childcare locations—came to me frustrated with their prior accountant. They were overwhelmed, confused, and had no idea they’d been overpaying Uncle Sam for years. Within weeks of working together, they learned how to uncover hidden deductions, track grant funds, and structure their finances to SAVE thousands of dollars. Now, they’re not just thriving—they’re reinvesting their savings to grow their business and give their staff better opportunities. 💡 This is exactly what I’ll teach YOU tomorrow night at 7 PM Eastern in my Childcare Tax Savings Masterclass. If you’ve ever wondered: Am I missing out on deductions specific to my childcare business? How do I keep more of what I earn to grow my locations? What does it really take to avoid IRS headaches? This is your LAST CHANCE to get the answers you’ve been searching for. 🎁 BONUS: Show up live and I’ll give you my Exclusive Tax Savings Checklist, the same one that has helped childcare CEOs save THOUSANDS on their taxes. 👉 COMMENT “READY” below, and I’ll personally DM you the link to reserve your free seat. Don’t be the one who’s still guessing when tax season hits. Take control of your financial future, just like Danielle and Eric did. Seats are filling fast, and this masterclass won’t happen again this year. Tomorrow at 7 PM Eastern could be the most profitable hour you spend all year. #ChildcareCEOs #TaxSavingsMadeSimple #ChildcareBusinessSuccess

Thank you, Lindsey Lerner, for expressing the need to broaden our circles to include diverse perspectives. Picture this: you’re a mom with four kids, and one of them has a lightbulb moment. They invent the perfect low-cost, high-trust childcare solution that moms everywhere would crave. It could happen to any of us, right? Now, you turn to your LinkedIn connections and find that none of them can help bring this world-changing idea to life. Your connections are all former bosses, coworkers, and industry peers from advertising in NY, Chicago, and San Francisco. While they may share their own childcare concerns, none are policy-makers in DC. This gap is exactly why it's crucial to engage with new people—strangers today, tomorrow, and beyond. Even if you’re hesitant to ask a stranger for help now, if your child’s idea can solve a major issue, you’ll be grateful for the network you built before you needed it. And for anyone who is a business owner alongside being a mom then the need to build your "networking playlist" is triple important. With the uncertainty that exists this second it's a huge blindspot not to diversify your relationships. You diversify your financial portfolios to weather random chaos correct? Same idea....if you want to get really good at this, own a business that is deeply personal to you, and you are a mom with a kid (who might change the world) then join me on 9/23 - https://lnkd.in/gqDd4wCa

We’re done drowning in paperwork. Before we started using My Kid Reports, managing attendance, billing, and parent updates felt like a nonstop struggle. Every form and update ate up time we could’ve spent with the kids. That’s when we knew we needed a simpler way to handle these tasks. We decided to try a childcare management software that could keep all our admin work in one spot. Did we have doubts? Definitely. We weren’t sure how parents would adapt or if the system would be as smooth as we hoped. But honestly, it’s been a relief. Parents get real-time updates, and we finally have more time to focus on the kids. Going digital hasn’t just made our lives easier—it’s also helped us stay more connected with the families. If you’re in childcare and bogged down by admin work, give it a shot. You won’t regret it! **Ready to simplify your childcare management?** Visit [My Kid Reports](https://mykidreports.com) and see how it can transform your center today!

Another weekend flies by, but for many this Easter Monday brings a challenging reality: childcare deserts and the pressure to keep one foot on the gas at work while the other desperately tries to juggle childcare needs. Lack of reliable childcare and the disconnect between school schedules and capitalist ones disproportionately impact parents' (and, let's be real, especially women's) careers. This Easter Monday, I'm not sugarcoating the struggle. Because staying quiet doesn't serve anybody. Cobbled-together solutions, frantic scrambling for last-minute babysitters (or in my case, relying on the generosity of neighbors who work in the public sector or are SAHMs) – these are not sustainable answers. I am so grateful for my village (parents and friends) and to *usually* be able to pay for additional care in a pinch. I know that I'm deeply privileged and lucky on that front. And it's STILL hard. So, I can only imagine what others deal with. So this Easter Monday (when school and daycare are closed where I live, but it isn't an official stat holiday), you're hearing about it. And if you're navigating this today, I see you and I hear you. Don't conceal the labor you do behind the scenes to make these awkward "no school but yes work" days work. Spotlight them and talk about them. Highlight how challenging and disruptive they are. By sharing our experiences, we have a better chance of opening the door to meaningful change. We can advocate for more flexible work policies and expanded childcare options. Oh, and ideally a societal shift that recognizes not just the value of working parents, but also the impact on us when we run into these frequent and frantic days where work keeps going and our public institutions don't. P.S. A special shoutout to my team who are understanding and supportive when I'm having to exist in both worlds (agency and parent) simultaneously. And to my husband for being being my "tag in/tag out" partner on days like today.

This is my youngest’s last week of daycare, meaning the final daycare ACH payment has been processed! After 2 kids and 7+ years of childcare, this is massive for my family’s monthly cash flow. While it’s tempting to celebrate with a major splurge (I mean, my husband and I deserve to take a nice, long child-free vacation for the first time ever… right?!), here’s how I’ll be reallocating those monies: 1. 💰 Bulking back up our liquid emergency fund with 3m worth of expenses. 2. 📈 Maxing out my Roth IRA and my husband’s. 3. 👨🎓 Increasing our monthly 529 contributions. 4. 🏥 Maxing out my HSA. I preach all the above to my clients, but yes, even sometimes the financial professional isn’t able to follow her own rules. The most important thing is to create a financial plan for your family to help guide you through life’s various phases. If you’re a parent currently struggling with a budget and financial plan, send me a message and let’s set up a time to chat!
