Thanks Dan Campsall, Jamie Hassall and the wider Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety team for coordinating and Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom for hosting this important meeting. The continued collaboration across the sector is essential. It is really encouraging to see a strong and visible commitment to develop a road safety strategy focused on reducing deaths and injuries on our roads. It's so important that a new strategy includes a long term commitment to Collision Prevention, a change to vehicle design regulations, such as Transport for London's Direct Vision Standard HGV Permit Scheme that has seen a significant reduction in road fatalities and serious injuries since its introduction, This government should act immediately to implement the four policy recommendations included in the 2024 Road Safety Manifesto prepared by PACTS. VIZ-OVALZ® is pleased to join with all the UK’s leading road safety organisations in supporting this urgent call to action. There is no reason to delay any of the recommendations. Over the last decade Ministers have lost the ambition to improve UK road safety and given up on any pretence to meet the United Nation target to halve road deaths by 2030. It is unforgivable to normalise nearly 30,000 annual UK deaths and serious injuries in road crashes. That is why it is time for change and new leadership to make our roads safe." #RoadSafety #VisionZero #RoadSafetyManifesto The Scottish Government The Scottish GovTech Cluster,
PACTS was pleased to have organised a meeting between road safety leaders and the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom officials who also kindly provided a room. We discussed the four strategic priorities outlined in the Manifesto for Road Safety (https://lnkd.in/ebwrt5Q3) and discussed how we can work together with the DfT going forward to improve road safety. Lilian Greenwood, Minister for Future of Roads was able to join us for part of the meeting and it was great to hear assurances from the Minister about the new government’s commitment to establishing a Road Safety Strategy and to engaging with the road safety community. We look forward to working together to reduce the number of people killed and injured on our roads each year. #roadsafety #roadsafetymanifesto #transportsafety

Road Safety Conundrum. I listened to the commentary on radio over the week end on Road Deaths. Really frustrating https://lnkd.in/evTC3vRJ to hear the weak analysis of the situation. The plain fact is No One and Everyone is in charge of Road Safety. Long overdue to provided a singular national focus and eliminate many elements of the multi agency approach. Deterrence and Detection works provided the overall system is fair, focused and resourced, which is not now the case. #garda #RSA #roaddeaths #roadsafety #deterrence #ireland
