RECRUITER TIP: I just posted about being in an airport making calls. As I write this, in real time, I am currently listening to another legal recruiter fifteen feet away from me mentioning first and last names of his candidates, the locations of the meetings and the times they are taking place, the names of his clients, and on multiple calls not taking any care nor concern to protect his candidates' and clients' information. He even is talking about his strategy openly with them, mentioning the first and last names of everyone involved, about six of them. I then heard him reviewing an offer letter to a candidate, going into specific detail. This all is actionable intel for the taking to anyone within earshot, which means that the confidentiality of his clients and candidates has been lost forever. Anyone listening to it could take that information and triangulate the street intel to pinpoint the people and the opportunities. One thing I always make sure to do is ensure confidentiality, especially in a public place. When I was at Annapolis, I took courses on intel, including classes on HUMINT, known as Human Intelligence. HUMINT is the gathering of information through one on one conversations and other means, such as listening. When I was on active duty, I held a Top Secret clearance and worked on intel and operational security issues. The things I learned in this area stayed with me ever since. Be smart about your intel. I once was able to triangulate a confidential merger between two big firms just by paying attention to data sets from three areas (this was through overhearing conversations and observations at airports) #HUMINT #humanintelligence #legalrecruiting #recruiting #NALSC
