Everything happening around AI closely resembles the discovery of the atomic bomb. The only difference is that AI is accessible to almost everyone, thanks to free resources and open-source models that are already catching up to top closed-source models. Clearly, society and regulators are concerned about this, as AI can potentially be used as a weapon or for harmful purposes. On one hand, companies developing these models should do everything they can to ensure their technologies cannot be used without prior approval from the government and security agencies. On the other hand, any attempts to jailbreak built-in safety mechanisms and use the technology for malicious purposes should be prosecuted by law, just like hacking or arms sales. Are we expecting amendments to the criminal law, or have they already been introduced?
