“With enough creativity and enough lateral thought, there’s nothing that people with disabilities can’t participate in!” We wrapped up our final #FounderStories session of the year with an inspiring talk from Laura O’Reilly of Fighting Chance and Hireup Laura shared her story founding multiple social enterprises to support and empower individuals with disabilities, inspired by her brother’s journey with Cerebral Palsy (pictured). Some of her advice for early-stage social entrepreneurs included: - It’s really hard: “being an entrepreneur is like eating glass and starting into the abyss of death” - Elon Musk - But, do it anyway: Embrace the challenge, hold on to your “why”, and stay resilient - Think about revenue early: Prioritise ideas that have a pathway to genuine sustainability - Know your market: Prioritise user testing to ensure your idea deeply solves a critical problem A big thank you not only to Laura but to all the founders who graciously shared their stories and insights with us throughout the series! #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #ThisIsUOW

One of my favorite parts of entrepreneurship is connecting with fellow founders to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and find opportunities to support each other. 🤝 Last week we enjoyed a conversation over a cup of coffee with Annika Lundström, CEO of ReMinded, a mental health tech startup that recently closed its pre-seed round and is preparing for rapid growth. Thank you, Annika, for sharing your valuable time and knowledge with the Strawberry Health team! We’re excited to follow and support your journey to success. 🚀 #entrepreneurship #founderssupportingfounders #healthtech #mentalhealth #startupjourney #growthmindset

💡 “We were a team with tech capability, looking for a problem to solve.” 💡 Julie Bray shares how she and her ex-colleagues came together to launch Connective. 🚀✨ Initially focused on solving school communication challenges, Julie was inspired by her own experience as a parent receiving paper newsletters. Love this post below as it sums up the importance of having proper diversity on a panel . I put this line up together for Launch Club Capital and made a real effort to mash up the panel to cover all bases when it comes to female founders/ funding / stories I'm bored of seeing panels with the same kind of entrepreneurs on , the same funding stories for all of them, the same process but because their businesses are different and because they may be of different race/ religion apparently this is enough to call it a diverse panel This panel I put together covered taboo industries, shame , guilt , domestic abuse, growing up in Mumbai slums, crowd funding , VC funding, working mum guilt .. the real stuff So big thankyou Valerie Cai for your post below and thankyou to the amazing women who came on the panel with no questions asked, women I actually get to call my friends 💞 Francesca James 👑🐝 Dani Wallace 👑🐝 Zuleika Salter Sangeeta Pillai (Soul Sutras) and also Daisy Johnson who deserves a medal for trying to moderate us lot! Find your people and hold them close, the ones that make you feel like anything is possible and that you can in fact change the world #femalefounders #entrepreneurs #funding #vcfunding #crowdfunding #sextech #networking #community #equality #iwd2024
Premature to call this The Event of the Year because it's February? Perhaps. But in all honestly I doubt I'll go to a more inspiring and insightful one. With the most insane lineup I've ever seen, Zuleika Salter, Francesca James, Emma Sayle, Sangeeta Pillai (Soul Sutras), and 👑🐝 Dani Wallace 👑🐝 brought a level of diversity and balance to the panel that I rarely see in entrepreneurial events. Not only diversity from ethnic backgrounds but also socioeconomic backgrounds, fundraising backgrounds (with Killing Kittens crowdfunding all their major rounds), and educational backgrounds. What is the impact of this, you might ask? The visibility of different routes to entrepreneurial success is beyond important for instilling founder confidence. So often the story that is told and glamorised is one of: Business school/MBA/ex-unicorn employee -> raises loads of VC funding -> makes loads of money/company success The problem is, lots of founders don't see themselves reflected in this story, or the types of startups being built are not suitable for this story. All the women on this panel serve as living proof that diversified routes to entrepreneurial success exist, entrepreneurial success is not always defined as who raises the most institutional funding, and a true entrepreneur is called to innovate by a fire in their hearts asking them to solve a problem. Trying to build a company as a woman is hard, not only because of external limitations (ie. the palpable lack of institutional investment given to female-led companies) but also because of the internal limitations that women are inclined to set for themselves. Imposter syndrome, taking rejections hard, and struggling to find confidence in my own ideas is something that I work on on a weekly basis, and will likely continue to work on regardless of how externally successful I may seem. Thank you to the panel, and thank you Launch Club Capital for hosting. #entrepreneurship #startup #startups #womenentrepreneurs #womeninbusiness #womenintech #femaleentrepreneur #femalefounders #femalefounder #entrepreneur
