Last week was a rollercoaster as I tackled Week 2 of my learning journey with Zach. At first, I felt overwhelmed by concepts like creating a date array to analyze Monthly Active Users (MAUs). I had to revisit the lab multiple times—but when it finally clicked, it was mind-blowing! Key Takeaways: - The discussion about facts vs. dimensions was a game-changer for me. It clarified how these building blocks form the backbone of data modeling. - We explored how data shuffling impacts parallelism and why reducing high-volume facts to low-volume aggregates (like 1 row per user per month) can massively improve processing times—from 1 week to just 1 day. Now, I’m feeling re-energized and looking forward to diving into Week 3, where we’ll explore Spark and take on new challenges.
