Anant Krishna, an architect from Lucknow, has found a brilliant way to keep his office cool, and it's good for the planet too! The wall is adorned with 250 handcrafted clay pots, sourced from local artisans. Water trickles down these pots, transforming the scorching summer heat into a refreshing breeze. This is the essence of Anant's ingenious 'eco-wall'. The design leverages the Venturi effect, where strategically placed pots accelerate airflow. This, combined with natural wind and the power of evaporation, creates a cool and refreshing mist. Its benefits include being - > Eco-Friendly: This innovative system boasts a zero-carbon footprint, making it a win for the environment. > Cost-Effective: Say goodbye to high energy bills! The eco-wall is a sustainable and cost-effective cooling solution. > Locally Made, Locally Supported: The use of handcrafted pots promotes local artisans and adds a beautiful touch to the office. Anant Krishna's eco-wall is a shining example of how simple yet effective solutions can bring comfort and environmental responsibility together. #EcoCooling #SustainableOffice #Lucknow #NaturalsCoolingSolutions #VernacularArchitecture [Eco-Friendly Cooling Solutions, Venturi effect, Local artisans, Sustainable architecture]

At ARATA DESIGNS, #ResponsibleDesign is not just a buzzword but our mission and the way forward for the built environment. But what is Responsible Design, and why should it matter to all: architects, designers, developers, the real estate industry, corporate clients, and individual end-users? When done right, Responsible Design transforms spaces into living, sustainable spaces. Responsible Design for the #ArataTeam goes beyond design. Our designers consider not only the environmental impact but also social and ethical considerations, designing spaces that leave a lasting impact—a more holistic approach that prioritises human and ecological well-being while also considering our client’s vision. Across our residential and commercial projects, we design by minimising waste, maximising efficiency, and ensuring that every choice is intentional. Every decision, from selecting materials to choosing systems, reflects our commitment to responsible design. The materials we use are how we “walk the talk.” By this, we don’t mean concrete flooring or custom panelling; we are talking about reclaimed and recycled wood, metal, concrete, and all other reclaimed materials on site and during execution. We don’t just think about designing buildings; we consider the lifecycle of the materials and structure itself, the local landscape, climate, community, end-user, and the environmental impact of processing materials, construction, and operation all the way to the disposal of materials. This study helps us reduce waste, optimise the use of resources, and create long-lasting spaces. The result: spaces that enhance rather than disrupt the surrounding environment, and by creating sustainable spaces for corporate and residential end-users and the community using these spaces. Everyone benefits from lower energy consumption, reduced maintenance, and a connection with the users. Spaces that they love to be a part of. At Arata, we don’t just design buildings; we design ingenuity that embodies a responsible, forward-thinking approach. Let's shape the future together with bold aesthetics and responsible design. #aratadesigns #ahmedabad #biophilicdesign #responsibledesign #adaptivereuse #sustainablespaces #forwardthinking #architexture #archidigest #interiordesign #environmentalimpact #sustainabledesign #ethicaldesign #designingenuity #gujarat #maharashtra #hyderabad

Godrej Elements | Hinjewadi, Pune At Elements, each deck is hung between vertical accented blade like columns and the composition when repeated across the building height creates a pleasing trellis like pattern. The landscape layout breaks away from the linearity of the masterplan and creates a diamond or a diagonal shape for the walkways. The colours of the building are intentionally neutral to retain the open spaces and central garden as the visual focus. The clubhouse is the standalone jewel in the landscaped garden with a warmer tone and expression of materiality. The building design and structural concept is carefully laid out to enable efficient parking layouts in the podium. This raised podium creates a raised and more breezy & private green at an elevated level. While the architectural layouts are fairly simple with 4 units per level for each building, the building elevations strive to bring in some complexity to the simple massing by staggering the double height decks of the units. Located at Hinjewade this is next to Pune city's premier workspace hub. Conceived by the client as an amenity rich development for 1300 families its built in two phases - called 24 & Elements respectively. Each Phase is independent in terms of landscape amenities, clubhouse and parking spaces. Client | Godrej Properties Limited Architecture | Kapadia Associates Structure & MEP | Ramboll India Pvt. Ltd. I was drawn to Architectural Digest's announcement of this year’s 100 most influential architects, and as I browsed through the projects of these incredible talents, a few common threads really stood out to me. One of the most exciting trends is the way these designers are blending tradition with modernity. Whether it’s infusing colonial influences with contemporary design in Chennai or celebrating the Ladakhi way of building while using cutting-edge techniques, there’s a beautiful balance between honoring the past and embracing the future. Another thing that grabbed my attention was how eco-conscious so many of these projects are. Sustainability isn't just a buzzword here—these architects are making it the foundation of their work. They’re using local materials like mud, stone, and wood, designing homes that stay warm or cool naturally, and integrating things like solar panels and eco-friendly toilets. It’s clear that these designers are thinking about how to live lightly on the planet without compromising on style or comfort. I also noticed a strong push towards creating homes that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor spaces. It’s almost like the walls are disappearing, making nature an integral part of everyday life. Homes are being designed with courtyards, expansive decks, and massive windows that bring the outdoors in. The connection with nature is being prioritized in a way that feels refreshing and calming. What really inspired me, though, is how these architects are responding to the unique challenges of local climates and geography. Whether it’s a home built to withstand the harsh winters of Ladakh or one that’s designed to manage floods in Ahmedabad, each project feels deeply rooted in its environment. And finally, I love how so many of these designs put people at the heart of the project. Homes are being created not just for individuals but for families and communities, with spaces that encourage connection and togetherness. There’s something really human about these designs, something that goes beyond aesthetics to focus on how we live, gather, and interact with one another. It’s clear that the next generation of architects and designers in India is pushing boundaries in the most thoughtful and meaningful ways. #ArchitecturalDigest #OdysseyOfElegance #TheLuxuryEdit #InfluentialArchitects #SustainableDesign #ArchitectureAndNature

Ways to #beattheheat with innovative cooling solutions! (Part 1) 🌬️🌿 Our goal is to create cool spaces and breezes naturally without using excessive electricity or energy. Among our innovative cooling solutions the first two are Beehive and Binary, each designed on natural principles to provide cooling. Method 1- The Beehive system, first implemented at the Deki Electronics Factory in Noida, uses cylindrical round pots stacked like a beehive. Water poured over the terracotta pots cools the passing breeze because of evapotranspiration, creating a refreshing environment even in challenging conditions, such as areas affected by hot air from diesel generators. Method 2 - The Binary system combines flat tiles and round pots, creating a jaali (perforated screen) effect. This design not only cools the air but also allows for the integration of plants, enhancing both the aesthetic and environmental benefits of the space. By using these natural cooling methods, we are trying to reduce energy consumption and promote a more sustainable lifestyle! ___________ Video credits: Jaidev Tripathy In frame: Pranjal Maheshwari #AntStudio #CoolAnt #NaturalCooling #SustainableDesign #Beehive #Binary #GreenBuilding #EcoFriendlyLiving #TerracottaCooling #InnovativeArchitecture #EnergyEfficiency #CoolSpaces

𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐤'𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐲 There's been a lot of talk about our design philosophy. Today, let's talk about it. We started with low-rise buildings but soon transitioned to high-rise structures, realizing that a typical box design wouldn't set us apart. We sought out innovative architects and structural engineers to bring our vision to life. Though we faced challenges initially in both design and sales, our commitment to crafting exceptional buildings paid off – our project sold out upon its launch. Inspired by the hand gesture 'namaste', our post building design philosophy was born. Why should Ahmedabad's skyline be dominated by straight buildings? We believed in introducing unique designs, starting our design evolution in 2011. Over time, our inspiration expanded from gestures to objects, focusing more on commercial spaces where design flexibility allows for greater creativity. #ShivalikGroup #BuildingDesign #architecturedesign #legacy #ahmedabadcity

Forbes Marshall Corporate Office Location: Kasarwadi, Pune, Maharashtra, India Built-up Area: 6,000 sq. ms Duration: 2021 - 2023 Design Head: Prof. Christopher Charles Benninger Design Team: Ar. daraius choksi, Ar. YOGESH JATKAR, Ar. TARUN KUMAR CHITTARI and Ar. Siddha Regilla. Mentors: RAHUL SATHE and Ramprasad Akkisetti. Sectional View: SHLAGHA RAIPURE Site Execution: Forbes Marshall The Forbes Marshall factory in Kasarwadi has seen haphazard incremental growth since the late 50’s. Reacting to the changing needs, the facility had added four new built zones to the initial structure over the years. This resulted in a collaged building with varying spans, heights, and construction materials: with RCC columns and sheet metal roofs in some parts and load-bearing walls and concrete slabs in others. By #retaining, #reinforcing and #reappropriating, the factory space was converted into a modern corporate hub housing 300 employees. To retain parts of the original structure while fortifying it for future demands, advanced technological methods such as carbon wrapping were used on the existing columns. Through meticulous reinforcement techniques such as steel jacketing and bracket installations, structural integrity was bolstered, ensuring longevity and safety for occupants. #Passivesustainability measures, including radiant cooling technology integrated into the flooring system, significantly reduced reliance on traditional air conditioning, enhancing user comfort and cost-effectiveness. The design ethos favoured simplicity, with a predominantly white palette. Strategic material choices, sourced locally and devoid of extravagance, contributed to the project’s fiscal prudence without compromising quality or functionality, creating truly timeless architecture. #ForbesMarshall #CorporateOffice #AdaptiveReuse #SustainableDesign #GreenArchitecture #PuneArchitecture #MaharashtraBuilding #RadiantCooling #CarbonWrapping #StructuralReinforcement #SteelJacketing #BracketInstallations #BuiltEnvironment #ArchitectureInnovation #EnergyEfficient #ModernOfficeDesign #ArchitecturalEngineering #EcoFriendly #BuildingReuse #InnovativeConstruction #SustainableBuildings #PassiveSustainability #SmartDesign #ArchitectureLovers #OfficeArchitecture #BuildingDesign #Architecturesection #ModernArchitecture #EcoArchitecture #SustainableOffice
