NIS2 in a nutshell: #NIS2 is the EU's new rule to boost cybersecurity of services critical to the society like energy, healthcare, and even digital infrastructure. It requires companies to follow strict security practices, like reporting security incidents and managing risks. Executives are held responsible and face fines in case of non-compliance. What incidents or risks? Any event that is capable of compromising the Availability, Authenticity, Integrity or Confidentiality (AAIC) of stored, transmitted or processed data or services offered by or accessible via network or information systems. Rings a bell? Which Trust Service helps you with guaranteeing just that with regard to your stored data and documents??? #qea #docbyte #aaic

Are you ready for DORA? 🤔 On January 17, 2025, DORA – the regulation on the "Digital Operational Resilience in the Financial Sector" – will come into force, creating an EU-wide standardization of financial sector regulation. 🏦💰 But it's not just aimed at financial companies; it also applies to their ICT service providers, such as cloud providers. ☁️ DORA imposes strict requirements on IT security and resilience to defend against cyberattacks and ensure that operations can continue even during technical issues.👾🔐 Financial companies must therefore carefully select and monitor their ICT service providers. 🔎 Thanks to the Financial Addendum and comprehensive security measures, the #OpenTelekomCloud already meets key DORA requirements, such as ICT risk management. It also offers flexible testing and monitoring frameworks to ensure operational resilience, making it a reliable and future-proof foundation for financial sector companies. ✅ Prepare early for DORA – learn all about it on the blog 👉 http://ms.spr.ly/6047WEXo5 #DORA #Cybersecurity #Compliance #Finance #FinancialAddendum

Latest government funding bill makes modest cut to CISA. Why it matters: 1. The proposed funding of $2.8 billion for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is less than last year's budget and short of the Biden administration's request for 2024, suggesting budget constraints on cybersecurity efforts. 2. The funding gap could impact the agency's ability to oversee vital cybersecurity measures, like the impending incident reporting rule requiring critical infrastructure entities to notify CISA quickly after security breaches. 3. The shortfall questions whether the government is sufficiently prioritizing cybersecurity, despite increasing risks of cyber attacks on critical infrastructure, potentially compromising national security. How do we rebuild trust in technology? The tech industry is facing serious ethical challenges, with unintended consequences impacting people’s trust. CrowdStrike is implementing new checks to avoid another global IT outage. Cyber security group will improve testing and stagger updates to reduce risk of computers being hit all at once. They also offered a $10 apology voucher $10 apology voucher - an utterly small number to compensate for the 'harm' caused to customers globally. The incident has raised questions about the risks of the interconnected nature of global IT systems and the potential for an error to have outsized consequences. Loved being featured by DIGIT.FYI about my thoughts on Friday’s global outage which raised questions about the risks of the interconnected nature of global IT systems and the potential for an error to have outsized consequences. It illustrates the great fragility of the world's core infrastructure. Software vendors have become so large and so interconnected that their failures can damage the global economic system and tens of millions of customers. This could invite greater political and regulatory scrutiny. I am covering key lessons learnt, what could be done strategically to restore trust for customers like you & I from the perspectives of the Companies, Software Providers, Regulators and Governments. Obsolete computers in UK are failing to meet basic cybersecurity measures https://lnkd.in/eWuJHhtS In what could be a concerning issue, a recent survey has confirmed that the usage of outdated systems in UK is fetching a loss of £2.3 billion to the country’s economy as government departments are found spending huge in keeping the legacy systems alive. Also, the survey confirms that the legacy software used in various government departments is not in a position to meet the annual cybersecurity standards that could spell a doom, if it is linked to the critical infrastructure like power plants or water utilities. Organizing for Digital Delivery report, which was commissioned in May last year, deemed […]
