Think housing assistance covers your entire rent? Not quite. Most programs provide partial support, so you’ll still contribute a portion of your income. It’s all about making housing affordable—not free. 🏠 #Housing #Facts #AffordableLiving #KnowTheTruth #Assistance #HCV #Section8

A flawed system: The Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) was designed to help service members cover housing costs, but there’s a flaw in how it’s calculated for today’s economy. Rising rents and interest rates have outpaced adjustments to BAH, leaving many struggling to find affordable housing. It’s time to address this issue and ensure our service members aren’t left behind. #HousingAllowance #ServiceMembers #MilitaryBenefits #HomeOwnership #RealEstateReality #HousingMarket #RentingVsBuying #FinancialAdvice #AffordabilityAwareness #VeteranSupport

🤥 Myth: Affordable housing means rent is free and residents don’t need to work. ✅ Fact: Affordable housing comes in many forms, each designed to support various income levels. From Section 8 to #workforce housing, different programs offer different levels of #rent assistance and affordability. The goal: cater to all incomes, including those who don't necessarily qualify for low-income housing but can't quite afford market rate. #affordablehousing #lihtc

Labour has already hit the ground running. I was delighted to see a huge boost to housing and infrastructure in the King's Speech. The Planning and Infrastructure Bill is a significant legislative move aimed at accelerating the development of infrastructure and includes the construction of 1.5 million much-needed homes across the UK. This bill is one of 40 legislative proposals and seeks to streamline the planning system, ensuring a faster and more efficient approval process for major projects. This is great news for individuals who are in dire need of a home. Often planning is what can take an excessive amount of time. Key provisions of the Bill include: > Simplified Consent Process > Modernised Planning Committees > Compulsory Purchase Compensation > Unlocking Development Sites > Nature Recovery and Development Funding The Planning and Infrastructure Bill represents a bold step towards addressing the UK’s housing crisis and infrastructure needs. I'm really passionate about tackling our homelessness crisis and hope that this will be a great step forward to help those in need. #property #kingsspeech

Today’s federal housing announcement is substantial: — 10% Accelerated Capital Cost Allowance for purpose-built rentals will incentivize more rental housing to get built faster — The new $15 billion in loans for the Apartment Construction Loan Program will help build 30k+ homes in municipalities across the country — The launch of Canada Builds will get more rental housing built by empowering provinces to launch their own housing plans — Putting under-utilized federal lands to use by building housing on it Each of these policies will have tremendous impacts on increasing housing supply across Canada 🇨🇦 #affordablehousing #rentalhousing #cdnpoli #onpoli https://lnkd.in/ggdpQm_b

One of our manifesto asks ahead of the General Election is for the next Government to commit to repairing our broken Private Rental Sector. It's a massive disappointment that the long-awaited promises to reform the PRS remain unkept. But a new Government has a golden opportunity to tackle the housing crisis and put people who are struggling financially - more and more of whom are renting in an unaffordable, insecure and poor quality PRS - at the heart of their policies. I explain more in the video below. More information on StepChange Debt Charity's 2024 Manifesto Asks here: https://lnkd.in/e3U6vTUD
We're asking the next Government to commit to make the Private Rental Sector more secure. For too long, over 9 million private tenants have faced the looming threat of housing insecurity, particularly when they experience difficulty life events that cause financial difficulty. We need to see an end to section 21 no fault evictions and a new Tenancy Support Duty to help renters struggling with debt problems to sustain tenancies wherever possible, supported by more funding for local authorities to provide discretionary housing grants to those in crisis. This is about rebalancing the scales and making the PRS work for tenants and landlords. https://lnkd.in/edubQ28X #generalelection #manifesto
