I always thought the role of onboarding was to understand your user’s top problem and guide them to that feature to get them activated as fast as possible. Onboarding is not just about identifying the best next action for your user but if you can understand your user's full range of goals you can then personalize their onboarding on a much longer horizon. "Food" for thought: 1. If this is a "lunch voucher" and NOT CASH, that means you have a physical / digital COUPON for whichever "providers" you have an agreement on to accept them as CASH, then your employees have limited and restrictive usage for them except for LUNCH if all providers are just restaurants (apparently NOT THE CASE here) 2. Hey boss, you gave me a "lunch voucher", but as long as I can spend it on anything at anywhere, what's stopping me from doing that (that's your own implementation issues with your program, and not completely the employees' fault) 3. If this "food allowance" is delivered in the form of CASH, once it is in an employee's hands, you cannot question what and how they will use it (any grievances are just your own self-inflicted headache) Yes, some of those employees clearly abused the program, but looking at it objectively, it is a "flawed" program asking for trouble https://lnkd.in/gs-EXY-G

Last-minute booking remains the big bad wolf of the sector 🐺 Our Brunchmarking sessions made their North Belfast debut on Thursday at the beautiful setting of the Duncairn Arts Centre. Again, we chatted about all things loyalty and engagement. Relationship building was a hot topic - the importance of getting to know your audience and putting in the hard graft to develop a relationship can’t be understated when it comes to generating and maintaining engagement. Once you really get to know your audience, you can start understanding their barriers and motivations. Removing barriers and developing community buy-in are essential here, and the organisations in the room blew us away with their inspired ways of doing so, from pay-what-you-can pricing schemes and loyalty cards, to in-person box offices to increase community engagement. Last-minute booking remains the big bad wolf of the sector (panto season, anyone?) We can’t say ‘he’s behind you’ just yet though, as it’s very much a pressing issue for arts organisations. In our last Brunchmarking Session, we talked about engagement-building as grocery shopping: we’re not trying to move audiences from Lidl to Sainsbury’s, we’re trying to get them to buy more groceries overall. Well, it’s stressing out the folks at the grocery store when they have no shoppers until 15 minutes before closing, when there are shelves to be stacked and floors to be mopped. So how do we fix it? We know that 74% of audiences decide they’re going to an event as soon as they hear about it – so how do we make them buy their ticket sooner? Some suggestions were more transparency around refunds and exchanges, pay-in-instalment options, and proactive communication around accessibility measures like public transport. We wrapped up the session full of good ideas (and scones) and look forward to chatting more with arts organisations at our North West Engagement Session on 13 December in Letterkenny.
