🌟A New Government: A Fresh Chance to Prioritise Disability ✅The results of General Election 2024 are in, there’s an opportunity—and a responsibility—to ensure that disability rights are no longer sidelined in Ireland. 💡Inclusion Ireland and AsIAm - Ireland’s Autism Charity's recent survey highlighted a stark reality: 3 out of 4 people feel that disability rights are not a priority in their local areas. This highlights the urgent need for the leaders of this government to listen, act, and deliver for people with disabilities across Ireland. 📢The voices of adults with intellectual disabilities, are clear. The Irish government must: ➡️ Ensure access to appropriate housing. ➡️ Invest in healthcare services that provide timely, inclusive, and person-centered care. ➡️ Create equitable education opportunities, ensuring no one is left behind due to lack of resources or support. ➡️ Boost employment supports and close the gap on one of the EU’s lowest disability employment rates. ➡️ Tackle systemic barriers to accessibility across all areas of public and private life. 💬 Let’s keep the conversation going and hold leaders accountable. Bank of America earned a perfect 100/100 score on this year’s Disability Equality Index – for the 8th year in a row! The Index is a joint initiative from Disability:IN and American Association of People with Disabilities that measures adherence to leading disability inclusion practices.   It's an important reminder that it takes action to achieve more inclusive workplaces and communities. Nothing Without Us! ✊ Decisions affecting Disabled People should never be made without their direct input and involvement. Just as we wouldn't accept decisions about our lives being made without our say, Disabled People deserve the same respect and inclusion in policymaking. Today, let's also remember that Disabled People are people too (crazy, right?), with interests and needs that extend beyond disability rights.
