If you piled all these slices up, they’d reach over 4.8x the height of Mount Everest! 🌿 Carbon Emissions Avoided 🌿 We avoided 70.1 tCO2e emissions, which equates to 26 million phone charges. 💧 Water Saved 💧 We saved 422,445 litres of water – the equivalent of 9,184 showers! 🌾 Land Freed Up 🌾 We freed up land equivalent to 1,474 tennis courts! WWF is an organization where your efforts go a long way. Why? In August 2015, the PFP (Project Finance for Permanence) was already in action. According to the annual report for 2022, the nonprofit spent USD 332 million on program expenses. The company produces interesting annual reports with detailed pictures and less hard numbers. They show impact along with money spent. This is an example of connecting financial data to strategy and also helping the Environmental (SG) goal so many companies strive for. Are you a funder working on the tax system to make a positive impact? The Earth Funding Lab is a platform, created by the Environmental Funders Network and the The Bio-Leadership Project, for learning, strategy and collaborative action designed to help philanthropic funders work together to support greater impact. The platform already has three practical workstreams, one of which is exploring how the tax system might evolve to serve life. This workstream focuses on exploring the points of confluence between the tax system and the climate and nature emergencies, seeking to identify ways in which the power of the tax system can evolve to act in service of life. Funders involved in this workstream are exploring five key areas: 🌀 Supporting the deepening of connections between the existing network of actors engaged with this topic 🌀 Supporting those actors to convert their existing policy recommendations and analysis into political reality 🌀 Supporting a shift in the public discourse towards greater government investment in climate and nature 🌀 Supporting amendments to taxes or tax breaks that are key to nature and climate impacts 🌀 Supporting legislative change to incorporate nature and climate into all tax decision-making Want to get involved? A year ago I didn't know what a power forward was, despite my pretensions of Raptor fandom. Today, Power Forward Communities is one step closer to helping install $2B worth of electrification upgrades in homes and communities across America. I am not a mathy person, but that's a lot of heat pumps. And a testament to the awesome collaborative work of so many on the Rewiring America team and all our partners beyond — Enterprise Community Partners, LISC, Habitat for Humanity International, and United Way, and the hundreds of communities that have signed up to champion this work. What a neat thing to breathe life into this, our climate work. Electrifying Everything for Everyone is a broad mandate, because 'everyone' is a broad group. These funds will help the portion of everyone that could not electrify without them. Because everyone deserves clean electric machines, and the right to choose them. 'Don't despair, decarbonize!' is something I repeat to myself quite often, but somedays I feel more electric oomph than others. Today is one of those days.

Just over half way! I have spent a few late nights this weekend personally writing to 381 elected members from 37 councils (I still have 31 councils to go) asking them for their support in addressing the critical issue of inequitable funding for many Councils. The cumulative effect of this ongoing underfunding is considerable. In fact, 51 of the 68 South Australian councils were underfunded last year alone. Twenty five years of ongoing underfunding in Mid Murray is just too much (more than $80million). Our communities are resilient, but this ongoing pattern of underfunding must be addressed. I’m not sure I’m going to get time to finish the email list before tomorrow morning so if you’re in Local Government, LGA SA has organised an online Round Table tomorrow to discuss financial sustainability within local government. This free webinar is open to council staff and elected members, and I strongly encourage you to participate. Registrations to this workshop are essential, check your email from this morning for LGA latest news to find the link to register. This is an important opportunity to explore financial sustainability within our sector.
