UPDATE on the EB-5 Immigrant Investors Program: Last Friday, the U.S. Department of State (DOS) announced that it had issued all legally available visas in the unreserved EB-5 categories for FY 2024. DOS will continue to schedule appointments this August and September; however, no new visa numbers will be available for issuance until October 1st. The good news is that this is a significant development as the Department of State and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) work to reduce the EB-5 backlog and improve processing times. 🚨 June 2024 Visa Bulletin Update: EB2-NIW Category 🚨 The latest Visa Bulletin for June 2024 has been released, and it's crucial to note that there has been no movement in the EB2-NIW category across the Rest of the World "ROW", China Mainland, India, Mexico, and the Philippines. This stagnation is disheartening for many awaiting progress in their applications. It demonstrates the need for strategic planning and staying informed about potential shifts in immigration policy. Key Reasons for Stagnation: Visa Quotas and High Demand: The total annual limit for employment-based visas results in backlogs, particularly when demand exceeds supply in certain categories. Per-Country Caps: High demand from populous countries can exacerbate backlogs, leading to slower movement across all countries. USCIS Administrative Challenges: Changes in policy or administrative delays can also contribute to periods of no movement. The landscape of immigration is ever-changing, and staying proactive with the latest information is key to navigating it effectively. #ImmigrationLaw #VisaBulletin #EB2NIW #USCIS #GreenCard

The NYT's article "Young Chinese Emigres Confront America's Brutal Visa Lottery" highlights how the H-1B visa lottery fails to provide nearly enough visas to foreign national professionals. It notes that the unpredictable and prolonged immigration process in the US has led some Chinese foreign students to consider immigrating to other countries, depriving the US of sorely needed talent. The US issues 85,000 new H-1B visas each year and in 2024 780,000 foreign nationals registered in the H-1B lottery. https://lnkd.in/e8UwvHXj #USCIS #USVisas #USimmigration #H1Bs #H1B #H-1B #H-1Bs
