"As part of the #WHY15 campaign, Nonprofit New York celebrates a $58 million restoration to city libraries, allowing them to serve their communities on Sundays, and a number of cultural institutions were relieved to find themselves back at baseline budget levels." "It is important to note that too many nonprofits and agencies did not see crucial funding restored. Some of these nonprofits will be forced to close their doors because their organizational needs were zeroed out of the recently approved budget. Nonprofits supporting the parks and open spaces - places that are crucial to public health and safety - are forced, once again, to confront the challenges created by a consistent lack of investment and funding." The Alliance for Nonprofits shares a message about individuals impacted by the Baltimore Key Bridge Collapse, originally submitted to the community by Maryland Nonprofits & Maryland Latinos Unidos. Please review the announcement and provide any information resources/services and donations. Our prayers are with those tragically impacted as well as thousands of individuals who work at the Baltimore port. #nonprofits #nonprofitleaders Impact of the Key Bridge Collapse: Request for Collaboration and Resources Dear friends, Our hearts are aching amid the challenging circumstances following the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore. Our attention is first and foremost on the families of those whose lives were lost and on the survivors. We acknowledge that those who lost their lives were from the immigrant community, which is being hardest hit by this disaster. The bridge and the waterway will be closed for some time, affecting jobs and livelihoods in already struggling and underserved communities. In this scenario, we anticipate a significant surge in demand for support services, ranging from emotional counseling and financial assistance to job placement services and more. Given the scope of the needs and the potential for our resources to be stretched thin, collaboration among nonprofits is more critical than ever. We are reaching out to fellow organizations, community groups, and faith communities to compile a comprehensive list of available resources, services, and assistance programs that can be mobilized to aid those affected by the Key Bridge collapse. Bilingual resources and services for immigrant communities are particularly critical in this response. We kindly ask that you share any information on: Emergency aid and relief services Counseling and emotional support services Employment assistance and job placement programs Food and energy assistance Financial assistance programs Services for immigrant communities Any other services or resources that could aid those impacted Submit Resources Here https://lnkd.in/dxCG8mgq Baltimore Civic Fund, with the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, has established a website to donate to the victims' families and the families of the survivors, and we ask that this be widely shared. Our goal is to collect these resources into a centralized, easily accessible format that will be shared broadly within our network and with the public, ensuring that those in need can find the help they require efficiently and effectively.

Recent legislation has opened up incredible opportunities for nonprofits to access government dollars, but these coveted grants often come in the form of reimbursement-based awards that require organizations to complete the work before receiving any funding. This structure means nonprofits must foot the bill for their activities upfront, and it poses a particularly acute challenge for grassroots groups with less resources on hand. In a recent blog post, our colleagues Tivoni Devor and Ryan Ulbrich outline potential solutions for both donors and nonprofits. Learn how to better navigate and access these reimbursement-based government grants to continue maximizing your impact. Read more here: https://ow.ly/so3M50RF1fY
