President's Post: In the words of Michael Block, the CEO of All Roads (formerly the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless), "Fighting homelessness can sometimes seem like pushing a big rock up a steep hill. So when there’s good news, it’s great to point it out and build on it." And this is some positive progress to report: https://lnkd.in/gfvYZXtG. The Boulder Chamber's partnership with All Roads in support of the Day Service Center and in creating housing options, like the Bluebird permanent supportive building, are elements of the progress we can make through collaborative efforts to meet the needs of our unhoused population and to address the business and community impacts of homelessness. Let's keep pushing forward!

Pathlight HOME follows the Housing First approach, a proven model for addressing homelessness by prioritizing access to permanent, stable housing. Once housed, individuals can take advantage of wrap-around services to help support housing stability, employment, and recovery. This approach, compared with the Treatment First model, offers greater long-term housing stability, especially among people experiencing chronic homelessness. One of the best ways to tackle homelessness is to prevent it before it even happens. That’s where our Community Bridge program comes in. With support from our generous partners in the community at ENMAX, Community Bridge works with individuals and households to prevent imminent evictions through three kinds of support: ・ Financial education and empowerment ・ Benefits navigation and advocacy ・ Direct financial support including interest-free loans From January to October 2024, we helped ensure 464 individuals wouldn’t lose their homes — with 96% of the people we help staying in their homes long term (after a six-month follow-up). "Young people have so much success in our programs, and then they move out and they can't afford rent." Our CEO William Bedrossian talks a lot with the youth who stay with us. One thing he's learned is that to actually overcome homelessness long-term, young people need housing at a price that just doesn't exist right now. That feedback is at the center of his vision for affordable for youth housing, where young people overcoming homelessness can live independently at below-market rates for as long as they need to get their feet back under them. The landscape of youth homelessness is very different now than it was when we were founded in 1972, and our new strategic vision will use every tool at our disposal to to help end the crisis.

THIS is why affordable housing is so critical to health, well being, and thriving!
“Housing has made everything for me change. I’m so grateful for my affordable home, which is a source of peace, safety, comfort, and a stepping stone for my next chapter.” For Solomon, his home with Episcopal Community Services of San Francisco more than just shelter—it’s a place of healing, stability, and growth. This election season, we’re supporting Prop 5 to make the comforts of home a reality for more Californians. Prop 5 will give our communities the power to build supportive housing for people like Solomon who are experiencing homelessness. Learn more at YesOnCAProp5.org
