Really concerned by the height of the building proposed in this plan for Newquay Station quarter.
How important is regeneration to Cornwall? The answer is that through pioneering mixed-use city centre regeneration and long-term infrastructure development, our region will enable businesses to thrive. With a pipeline of £10.6bn in dedicated construction investment over the next ten years, key regeneration opportunities include: 🏘 £230m Pydar Regeneration 🏘 Pydar is a Council-led regeneration project that will transform 4.5 hectares of under-utilised brownfield land in the heart of Truro to create a new neighbourhood promoting multi-generational living. Cornwall Council’s arm’s length development company, Treveth is delivery partner on this scheme, set to act as a catalyst for further redevelopment opportunities on other sites close by. 🌱 £100-200m Newquay Station Quarter 🌱 Bringing forward local ambitions to regenerate this area of Newquay, Cornwall Council is seeking partners to deliver the first phase and create a vibrant station quarter, boosting the high street economy and provide high-quality residential and commercial property. One site at a time… 🏘️ Last night, we secured committee support for 40 homes in the Green Belt! This decision won’t solve the housing crisis but is a step in the right direction. It’s also an example of the pragmatism currently being shown by St Albans City and District Council. Members know that new homes are needed in the area and understand the inevitability of using Green Belt land as part of the solution. While 40 homes in the Green Belt won’t grab many headlines, it is sites like this that are so desperately needed. It will be acquired by a medium-sized local housebuilder and built out within a couple of years. The proposals include 35% affordable housing and over £700,000 investment in infrastructure. Large, strategic-scale sites are great but these smaller ones really help too. Big thanks to the consultant team, including Nett Assets Limited, Milestone Transport Planning Ltd and EAS The site will be coming to the market soon so watch this space… #GreenBeltDevelopment #AffordableHomes #SustainablePlanning

Please can people write and say they want the railway reopening? It is a shared access of former Bedford and Wellingborough lines. Ironically the Bedford-Northampton rail idea is in their proposed Local Plan. Left hand not know what right hand is doing?! Please remember my new email is richard.brta@gmail.com https://lnkd.in/eyEAQsmV Please write and object to this encroachment on a double track railway corridor denying Northampton ability for direct rails to Bedford/Brighton and all in between and also direct Northampton-Bedford-Cambridge rails too. It is cynical and draconian. Yes, we need development, yes we need housing and brownfield, but to block a rail access when the rail alternative is crying out to rebalance gridlocked congestion and harmful pollution, seems very short sighted. Likewise, we do need Northampton-Market Harborough (N2MHY). Please join us and work with us to keep these options open. 🔑 🤝 Stirling Council is delighted to announce it has completed the transfer of the former MoD land at Forthside, unlocking exciting opportunities for the city and the wider region including the creation of thousands of jobs. The purchase of the 36-acre site by the council is being fully funded by a £5m grant from the UK Government as part of the Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal – a £214 million partnership between Stirling and Clackmannanshire Councils, the University of Stirling and the UK and Scottish Governments. It will be carried out in two phases, with around 80% of the land acquired by the end of March and the remainder handed over by the end of June this year, following the completion of decontamination works. The disused site sits on the south bank of the River Forth and is the largest brownfield area in the city centre with excellent transport links. Work can now start on its transformation into a prime economic location, with the costs met from a £19m grant the council secured from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund. Most of this funding (£16m) will be spent on the redevelopment of the former MoD land, including new roads and footways, the demolition of some redundant buildings, site clearance and infrastructure for the likes of power, drainage and communications. The remaining £3 million will provide new active travel infrastructure between Forthside, the city centre and surrounding areas. This substantial investment will deliver a new vibrant community in the heart of Stirling that includes housing, commercial development space, enhanced public spaces, environmental improvements and better access to the River Forth. From the article: "Several build-to-rent projects in Sydney’s west have received development approval despite one of them being at significant risk of being flooded, as the NSW planning department prioritises new rental housing over potential residual costs down the line. The BTR push in Parramatta, Sydney’s “second CBD” in its western suburbs, coincides with the Minns government’s push for more housing around public transport hubs – the first tranche was announced on Monday – to help ease the state’s chronic housing supply and affordability crisis." I have to say it is good to see so many people talking about the housing crisis and now politicians are taking it seriously. There will be no easy solutions and early plans may not succeed like the 1.2M target for the Housing Accord. However, provided momentum to change continues this is a significant improvement from the inaction in the past 10-15 years. Any thoughts? As always please be respectful, inclusive and polite to others or refrain from commenting. This is for the purpose of encouraging discussion to raise awareness of the housing crisis and find solutions, and I am not advocating a particular position. Try to focus on the issue not your political beliefs and suggestions to solving the housing crisis. https://lnkd.in/g9hjA64f
