I have always wanted a Porsche and decided to look at some models but am not having any luck locating the Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus tank that I want 🤓🎄🪖 Porsche, renowned for its high-performance sports cars and luxury vehicles, has a multifaceted history that extends into military hardware during World War II. Porsche's foray into tank design was driven by Ferdinand Porsche, the founder, who had a keen interest in military engineering. The most notable tank associated with Porsche's designs is the Panzerkampfwagen Tiger (P), often referred to as the Porsche Tiger. This vehicle's development process started in 1941 as part of a competition to create a new heavy tank for the Wehrmacht (he armed forces of Germany from 1935 to 1945). The Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus was an ambitious project intended to create the heaviest tank ever built, with Porsche responsible for the design and engineering. The Maus was a technical marvel with a V12 gasoline engine producing 1,200 hp and armament of 128mm KwK 44 gun and a co-axial 75mm gun. But it was strategic misstep as it weighed a massive 188 tonnes... making it impractical for actual warfare! Only two prototypes were ever completed, which never saw combat. However, the chassis designed by Porsche did not go to waste. It was later repurposed to become the base for the Ferdinand and subsequently the Elefant tank destroyers. The Elefant tank destroyer, originally known as the Porsche Typ 101, was a result of Ferdinand Porsche's design. A total of 91 units were built, combining Porsche's chassis with an effective 88mm anti-tank gun. The Elefant saw action on the Eastern Front and in Italy, noted for its heavy armor and powerful armament but also for its mechanical unreliability. Porsche's involvement in tank production was a notable, though limited, chapter in the company's extensive history of innovative engineering and design achievements. Ferdinand Porsche, born in 1875, was an Austrian-Bohemian-German automotive engineer and founder of the Porsche AG. He is best known for creating the first gasoline–electric hybrid vehicle (Lohner–Porsche), the Volkswagen Beetle, the Auto Union racing cars, the Mercedes-Benz SS/SSK, and many, many other incredible Porsche automobiles. Ferdinand was a member of the Názï Party and an officer of the Schutzstaffel (SS)🤔 He was a recipient of the German National Prize for Art and Scienc and also the War Merit Cross 🎖️ Porsche was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1996 and was named the Car Engineer of the Century in 1999. Porsche. There is no subsitute. ✨🇩🇪 #cars #automitive #porsche #military #wwii #history #engineering #engineers #design #manufacturing #germany

Ford are famous for their badge engineering and reinvention of older naming conventions the latest being introduced on the 2024 Ford Capri which returned this week to a rather unpopular response across social media platforms after 40 year hiatus. I wanted to share some of the previous examples from Ford including the Ford RS2000 which returned in 1991 in Mk5 guise, RS1800 which reverted from its original Mk2 Escort BDA to Fiesta Mk3 in the mid 90s to more recent times with RS500, no longer a thoroughbred touring car but found fame on the Focus Mk2 RS as the runout model and latterly the Puma brand which returned as a SUV rather than 3 door coupe albeit retaining the Fiesta platform. There have been other examples particularly on the Escort platform of Harrier and Mexico on Mk5 and Mk6 form retrospectively that possibly received the same reception to that of 2024 Capri. It will be interesting to see how we lool back upon the lated Capri in another 40 years... Can you think of any other examples where Ford have brought back icons? #ford #cars #ev #fordcapri

🐍1965 Shelby Cobra 427 Roadster The Shelby Roadster is arguably the most famous and relevant of all automotive legends. In 1962, the Shelby Cobra (or AC Cobra, in the UK) made its historic debut as a collaboration between Ford and British car manufacturer AC with the release of the first production Cobra known as the CSX2001/Mark I. In the early 1960s, Ford strove to build a car that would eclipse the Chevrolet Corvette as America's most important sports car. The American automaker was well prepared to take on their local rival and had already produced the engine they would take into battle – a new lightweight, thin-walled, small-block 3.6L V8. However, they still needed a chassis to go with the power plant. Here was the charismatic Carroll Shelby – backed financially by Ford for this venture – who recognized the racing success of the AC Ace in the late 1950s and would eventually negotiate a deal with the British who would make a chassis based on the Ace, what Ford would do then use its nascent V8 engine to breathe life into it. Although the Ace is an aging design nearing the end of its life cycle, its lightweight structure would become the perfect fit to create one of the greatest American sports cars ever made over the next few years. Thus, the Shelby Cobra was born; and the rest, as they say, is history. #Anis_Maaouia

1967 Shelby Cobra 427 Roadster The Shelby Cobra 427 Roadster is arguably the most famous and relevant of all the automotive legends. In 1962, the Shelby Cobra (or AC Cobra, in the UK) wrote its storied beginnings as a collaboration between Ford and British automaker AC with the release of the first production Cobra known as the CSX2001 / Mark I. In the early 1960s, Ford endeavored to build a car that would oust the Chevrolet Corvette as the USA’s most significant sports car. The American automaker was well prepared to take on their local rival and had already produced the engine they would take to the fight – a new, lightweight, thin-wall cast small-block 3.6L V8. However, they still needed a chassis to go along with the powerplant. Here enters the charismatic Carroll Shelby – financially backed by Ford for this venture – who recognized the racing success of the AC Ace in the late 1950s and would end up brokering an agreement with the Britons who would manufacture a chassis based on the Ace, which Ford would then use its fledgling V8 engine to breathe life into. Although the Ace was an aging design near the end of its life cycle, its lightweight structure would become the ideal complement in creating one of the greatest American sports cars ever made over the next few years. Ever since its introduction in 1964, the Ford Mustang has existed in a league of its own. It was created as a small, sporty and affordable muscle car (ushering in what was nicknamed the pony car segment) and has exploded with its popularity exceeding the brand's every expectation. For the past six decades, the pony car has been the centre of muscle car culture. While the Mustang has changed a lot over the years, if there is one thing that has stayed the same, it’s that they’re downright cool. Still, some Mustangs were cooler than others, either because they were rare and special or simply because they were pure performance beasts. This #fordmustangday we’ve rounded up some of the favourites that stood out from the crowd and still evoke nothing but awe and respect: 1965 Shelby GT350 2012 Mustang Boss 302 1967 Shelby GT500 "Eleanor" 1968 Ford Mustang 428 Cobra Jet 2021 Mustang GT 2013 Shelby GT500 1964 ½ Mustang 2000 SVT Cobra R 2016 Shelby GT350R 1969 Boss 429 We might not be in the same league as the ‘Stang, but picking Pickfords as your moving partner will always have a factor of cool to it! https://lnkd.in/g9ckYZm #pickpickfords #moving #mustang #vehicletransfers #storage #movers #internationalmoving #localmoving #packing #movinghouse #transportation #movingcompany #movingservices #fordmustang #carstorage #nationalmoving #householdmovers #pickfords #relocations #movingpartner #householdmoving #stang

Do you feel that EVs have come after swallowing those REAL CARS? 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻-𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟲𝟬𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝘀𝗼 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘁𝗮? It started as a bubble car taking its engine from the motorcycles. Rivolta, the automaker, was a fan of Grand Tourers from Jaguars and Maseratis. So, he transformed this little bubble car into a GT. Finally, something which could compete with Ferraris. The Iso Rivolta was an amazing combo! It had: ↪️ Italian designing ↪️ Powered by a Corvette V8 engine ↪️ Later switched to Ford’s Cleveland V8 But it couldn’t resist more than 800 units. Market-shift towards fuel efficiency killed another exceptional engineering piece... 📌 If you still get a chance, would you choose a Muscle over EV? ----- Do you like reading about cars? 🚕 Follow + 🔔 Fariha #Automotive #Writer #Cars

Need Leads? / Yesterday’s comments of note: A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday: "Impressive and expensive build. Very clean and well executed. Love everything about it. For all you grey haired guys, do you remember the Mosselman turbo kits that were offered for the original M104? Those were certainly awesome, but a 2JZ Supra engine is even more awesomer!!" 9 SlowNRusty commented on No Reserve: 2JZ-GTE-Powered 1988 Mercedes-Benz 300CE 6-Speed "No worries, it will be driven." 9 conurtrol commented on Modified 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupe 6-Speed "So cool to see this one here - so very few of these have survived in nice condition. A friend had one of these with the 300 six and 4 speed when we were kids. It didn't go anywhere fast but it did go about anywhere. GLWTA!" 8 Todd_Z. commented on 1981 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT 4x4 4-Speed "Wow! When these came out in the 1980s, they were so cool! I would have given anything to have one of these back in the day, but at the time, I didn't have two nickels to rub together. This car still looks relevant because it was such a great design originally. GLWTA." 8 porkchopious commented on 1984 Audi 4000S Quattro 5-Speed "@Vizsla The story of how this motor wound up in these cars certainly is interesting, and it also paved the way for the Shelby cars. Most enthusiasts do know that this cross-pushrod, hemispherical combustion chamber inline 6 was first used in the pre-war BMW 328. But, many don't know it became a "Bristol" engine when awarded to them as war reparations after the second world war. Or, that because they were simply awarded as reparations, there came a time when the supply ran out. It was that…" 7 aleventhal commented on 1956 AC Ace-Bristol Roadster http://dlvr.it/T8BFTB Bringatrailer.com #carsofinstagram #carporn #classiccar
