Brazil: Atlético-MG May Not Renew Sponsorship Agreement with Betano. Atlético Mineiro, currently sponsored by the betting company Betano, is unlikely to renew the contract with the company. It's worth noting that the club has had one of the most significant sponsorships in Brazilian football since January 2021. However, they are seeking better financial terms and are already in negotiations with other brands. Galo's objective is to, at a minimum, equal the annual R$42 million paid by Betfair to Cruzeiro. Among the options considered are three other betting companies: Parimatch, Superbet, and Bet.bet. For example, Parimatch pays R$27.5 million per year to Botafogo. Meanwhile, Superbet, which sponsors Fluminense and São Paulo, spends R$42 million and R$52 million, respectively, on each of these clubs. Club Athletico Paranaense, a leading Brazilian football club, has temporarily suspended its sponsorship agreement with Esportes da Sorte following allegations of illegal betting activities and money laundering. The football club has confirmed that Esportes da Sorte’s branding will no longer be visible on its kits or in its stadium until the matter is resolved. This decision was taken in response to concerns surrounding the operator's legal standing. The suspension comes after Esportes da Sorte was notably absent from the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets’ (SPA) latest list of operators authorized to continue business operations through the transitional period from October to January, ahead of Brazil’s newly regulated betting market launch. Any betting company not featured on the SPA’s approved list is considered illegal and may face a ban by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel). Athletico Paranaense’s official statement indicated that the club is currently seeking clarification on “recently reported facts” concerning Esportes da Sorte’s compliance and legal status. Last year, before the Libertadores final, we launched the 'Lucky Orders' campaign with Zé Delivery . The central idea was to analyze over 1.5 million consumer interactions to study purchasing habits on decisive game days, encouraging fans to repeat orders they considered 'lucky'—those made on days when their teams won. We took it further by diving into data analysis to identify patterns related to the grand final between Fluminense and Boca. Based on this analysis, we sent personalized messages to fans, highlighting details from previous matches against teams with the same uniform colors as Boca, players of the same nationality, or matches against Argentine teams held at the same location and time as the final—even teams with 'Jrs' in their names. This strategy transformed superstition into a powerful purchase motivator. In other words, we simple invited people believe in their inner power for changing a game result and repeat the same order they made when their team won. The Brazilian Série A 🇧🇷 is proving its unpredictability yet again this year. This got me wondering... what are the chances? 🧮😶 As we approach the midpoint, Botafogo’s effort to regain the title they last won in 1995. Botafogo’s strong defensive record and competitive performance are notable, but their projected total of 61 goals is slightly below the historical average of 66.5 goals for title-winning teams over the past decade. Their +G - -G value of 0.834 indicates they are competitive, though not leading the pack. Based on my analysis of previous winners over the past decade, Botafogo’s chances of winning the league stand at around 35-40%. This takes into account their current performance, the competitiveness of the league this season, and how their stats compare to past winners. It’s curious that the current leaders, Botafogo, aren’t the bookies' top favorites! Instead, Flamengo (the top pick), in third place, and Palmeiras (second pick), in second, are seen as having stronger chances of securing the title. Going into the January Transfer Window, there is a lot of working going on behind the scenes at clubs to assess who they might want to look at for potential acquisitions. In this post, we would like to showcase the importance of the South American continental competitions. At the end of November, the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana ended, with Botafogo winning their first ever Copa Libertadores title, and Racing Club also winning their first ever Copa Sudamericana titles. Continental competitions can have a large effect on an individual players' GBE Scores, with a swing of up to 10 points for one player, so at Transfer Edge, we have create our own report that shows how every team performed in this year's competition, the clubs with the largest swings positive and negative versus last year, and importantly, how many players from each league and from each club currently pass GBE.
