Is it challenging to achieve an energy-efficient home? A recent article examining residences in Sheffield sheds light on the hurdles homeowners encounter when trying to select the best methods to ensure their homes are warm and efficient. In light of these findings regarding sustainable heating options, air source heat pumps (ASHPs) stand out as a revolutionary solution. Here’s why they deserve your attention: 🌱 Energy Efficiency: ASHPs harness ambient air to generate usable heat, often producing 2-4 times more energy than they consume—marking a significant leap in energy efficiency. 💸 Cost Savings: Although the upfront installation costs can be considerable, ASHPs provide substantial long-term savings on energy bills and reduced maintenance expenses compared to conventional heating systems. 🔋 Lower Carbon Emissions: By minimizing dependence on fossil fuels, ASHPs contribute to lowering household carbon emissions, aiding in the shift towards a net-zero future. 🏡 Versatility & Comfort: ASHPs function throughout the year, delivering both heating and cooling, ensuring comfort across all seasons. Investing in ASHP technology is a vital step towards a more sustainable and resilient energy landscape. https://lnkd.in/eRcb-h7f Let’s embrace this as the standard for home and commercial heating solutions! 🌍 #Sustainability #HeatPumps #AirSource

How Our Family is Cutting Carbon and Costs I started a Net Zero Plan for our household to reduce our carbon footprint and save money. I will share what I learn in case you are interested. · I discovered weatherizing is an important initial step. · We got an energy audit, free in NY, to see where we were wasting energy. · We chose a contractor and had the insulation work done before summer. · We qualified for a Con Edison rebate, covering 40% of the cost. · Our house is more comfortable in this heat and we are saving on AC costs. · It’s a win-win! Details for New Yorkers on free home energy audits, finding a contractor, and the various incentives and rebates you may qualify for are available on the NYSERDA Website > Find a Program > Home Energy Efficiency Are you taking steps to cut carbon and make your home more comfortable? #cuttingcarbon #decarbonization #climatechange #savingmoney #winwin

Nearly 1/3 of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions are attributable to America’s 130 million #homes and #buildings -- which use 40% of the nation’s energy and 75% of its electricity for power, heating, and cooling. But today, buildings still waste up to 30% of that energy they consume through inefficiencies! In addition, nearly 1 in 4 households nationwide experience high energy burdens; and as a result, more than 20% fell behind on their energy bills in 2022. These trends disproportionately impact lower-income residents, predominately communities of color, who live in older homes that often lack adequate insulation and energy-efficient appliances. So...to decarbonize American homes and improve energy affordability nationwide, the DOE launched the eighth Energy Earthshot™—the #Affordable #Home #Energy #Shot™—to accelerate innovative breakthroughs and reduce costs to decarbonize our nation’s residential buildings! Through this Energy Earthshot, DOE aims to reduce the upfront cost of upgrading a home by at least 50% while reducing energy bills by 20% within a decade. Providing affordable, scalable solutions that can upgrade buildings of all types is essential to achieving this bold goal. Tomorrow, June 5, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will virtually convene stakeholders to discuss the Affordable Home Energy Shot. The Virtual Summit will include sessions featuring: ➡️ Equity-Driven Solutions: Discover DOE’s role in fostering equitable building energy solutions. ➡️ Stakeholder Perspectives: Gain insights from affordable housing initiatives and diverse stakeholders. ➡️ Cost Reduction Strategies: Explore new approaches to reducing energy upgrade costs. ➡️ Technology R&D Needs: Discuss crucial data and insights needed for advancing technology research. Interested?! Well you can still sign-up by visiting: https://lnkd.in/ezZCXgaC And you can find out more about thye Affordable Homes Earthshot at: https://lnkd.in/grnRGeAi DOE State and Community Energy Programs (SCEP) is a proud partner in this effort, and through our Weatherization Assistance Program and Home Energy Rebate programs, we're plugging in to ensure affordable and sustainable homes are not at odds and become the reality for all. #ENERGY #affordability #sustainability #efficiency #decarbonization #housing #homes #affordablehousing

A new report from ACEEE finds huge energy cost savings are possible if the U.S. equitably electrifies homes. It’s critical that electrification investments prioritize lower-income homes, which often have inefficient systems and face the highest energy burdens. Read the full report below to learn more.
Residential #electrification can save American households $96 billion through reduced energy costs if lower-income households electrify alongside higher-income ones. “The upfront price of electrifying can be prohibitive for low-income households, but the benefits of helping these homes go electric dwarf the costs. If we don’t invest in energy upgrades in lower-income homes, we risk both higher energy costs and real impacts on human lives from air pollution and climate change, like having a family member hospitalized or a home being flooded,” said ACEEE’s Lyla Fadali about our new report.
