What a difference it makes when you realise choosing differently can change the world 👇 🎄 👇 #ChristmasGiftIdeas
Gifting. Differently. Here are a few ideas about making more sustainable choices, supporting the local economy and communities, while reducing waste. There are plenty of options and here is a very small selection. Discover others near you and please share if you find a hidden gem! 1. Time. Spending time with others can boost our health and wellbeing, making us feel more socially connected. This can include mingling with family, friends and others who matter to you. Supporting local businesses and shopping small can boost family businesses, support makers who produce unique gifts, and reduce transport emissions. It is difficult for any business to be 100% sustainable and 'eco' or 'ethical' labelling can be confusing. Consider natural materials while avoiding plastic, where ingredients come from, and the kind of waste created. Or choose an experience such as visiting Chester Zoo rather than buying a product! Look for the B Corp logo, Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), Fairtrade or other symbols suggesting a company is doing the best it can for people and the planet. Certainly not in terms of the impact on communities, workers, or the environment! Social Supermarket - https://lnkd.in/eHuY4a-T Grace Chocolates - https://lnkd.in/eixZuBrr 5. Support a charity. Whichever cause is closest to you heart there are usually ways to support them. This year HM3 Legal has voted to support West Cheshire Foodbank and Cheshire Wildlife Trust. 6. Biodegradable packaging. The UK alone is estimated to waste 108 million rolls of wrapping paper at Christmas! Most items used for wrapping end up in landfill or cannot be recycled. Biodegradable paper is now available - make sure it does what it says it does! Some people are getting super creative with their wrapping (and wreaths and decorations) and below are some ideas.
