The coolest part of starting a startup are the one million other unexpected things you learn along the way. * The subject matter expert it forces you to become.  * How it forces you to change the way you think.  * The way it pushes you to change both personally and professionally. While every founder’s startup journey is unique, in my experience and from those others have shared with me, the lessons converge into takeaways you can learn from and apply moving forward. I got the idea for tofu while working at a well-funded labor marketplace startup in 2021. The company raised a massive, $95M Series B and began hiring in droves. It made me realize how much waste is created from interviews. It pushed me to start thinking about how to repurpose the sunk costs poured into the recruiting process. I began considering how networks could help repurpose those sunk costs and tinkered with different concepts of qualifying talent signals, using AI to enrich and connect everything. Ultimately, with the end goal of creating a product that helps you do more with less. Since 2022, over 300 leading companies have joined Tofu and are seeing the benefits of better data and signal through reduced screening time and time-to-hire.
