The Australian Government is introducing new legislation for Climate Disclosure from January 2025 that will be progressively applied to companies. It will require not only disclosure of Scope 1 and 2 but also scope 3 If your company or your customers have annual revenue above $50million or 100 employees this will apply to your company directly or via your customer’s requirements. The legislation is not only about reporting on the prior year, it requires reporting on future actions and scenarios across the key reporting areas of Governance, strategy, risk, metrics and targets.
So what does this mean for your company and what actions do you need to take to prepare for these requirements? Carbon Map is a great tool to understand where you are and what actions you need to take now.
From the AICD climate forum in August, the consistent recommendation from large companies like Coles, Stocklands and others that have been on the journey for 5+ years was start as early as possible.
