Each time our family sits down at the dinner table (which we aren't able to do nearly enough!), we start by going around the table and expressing gratitude for one thing that is at the top of our minds.
Thanksgiving is no different, just a lot more people sitting at the table.
Today will be hard, though. My Father-in-Law passed away just over two weeks ago, and though we know our paths will cross again, there will still be an empty seat at the dining room table this year.
Often, we focus on what we are grateful for.....wins, gifts, people who make our lives more complete, exciting adventures, and everything else that puts a smile on our faces.
Today will be different, and I will lean into something I recently read in my favorite newsletter, The Daily Coach.
It talks about the power of being Grateful In vs Grateful For.
In times of significant adversity, it is hard to be grateful for what has happened.
However, "when we embrace being grateful in, we open ourselves to the paradoxes of life-the joy and the pain, the victories and the losses, the rebirths and the endings. Gratitude in these moments is not about liking the hardship but about finding grace within it. It's grounding ourselves in the belief that even the most challenging chapters of our journey have something to teach us, and that life isn't happening to us, it's happening for us!"
Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!
